Application

These patch cabinets provide maximum passive air flow and are available either 700mm or 800mm wide to better accommodate cables, patch cords, and network equipment. They are designed for use in data rooms with either random or hot aisle/cold aisle cabinet positioning. Because there is no fan, these cabinets require minimum maintenance. Cabinets are tested to thermally manage up to 2500 watts.

Thermal Performance

Thermal rating of 2500 watts heat dissipation is based on:55°F (13°C) ambient temperature in front of cabinet• Maximum inside temperature 100°F (38°C)• Equipment spaced to allow air flow (reduces “hot spot” potential)• Blank RU spaces filled with rack panels •

NOTE: Actual performance may vary depending on equipment layout and ambient temperature. Higher ambient temperatures will reduce heat dissipation, resulting in higher internal cabinet temperatures.

These server cabinets provide maximum passive air flow. They are designed for use in data rooms with either random or hot aisle/cold aisle cabinet positioning. Because there is no fan, these cabinets require minimum maintenance. Cabinets are tested to thermally manage up to 2500 watts.

These server cabinets provide improved heat dissipation in raised-floor data room applications. They have an integral floor duct that directs air into the server intakes when positioned over the required cutout in the raised floor. Cabinets are tested to thermally manage up to 10,000 watts.

These cabinets house data equipment in dusty and dirty environments. They keep out contaminants by filtering the air as it comes into the cabinet. These cabinets are ideal to house and protect sensitive electronic equipment in an uncontrolled indoor environment where ambient air temperature is less than 85° F (29° C)

Air Conditioner Sizing

Air Conditioner Selection and Sizing Software

Designed to assist you in determining the most suitable choices of air conditioners, heat exchangers, or fans for your application. Download a free copy of our selection software by visiting our web site: www.hoffmanonline.com.

Air conditioners are appropriate for applications in which:The temperature inside the enclosure must be maintained at or • below ambient temperature.Humidity must be removed from the enclosure.• Ambient air contaminants must be kept out of the enclosure. •

The following air conditioner sizing procedure applies to uninsulated, sealed, and gasketed enclosures in indoor locations.

1. Determine the internal heat load in watts

Add the maximum heat output specifications for all equipment to be installed in cabinet.

Conversion: 1 Watt = 3.413 Btu/Hour

2. Determine the desired temperature difference (∆T) between the ambient temperature and the temperature inside the cabinet

Subtract the desired maximum temperature inside the cabinet (Ti) from the maximum expected temperature (To) outside the cabinet. To - Ti = ∆T

Conversion: 1° K or C ∆T = 1.8° F ∆T

3. Determine the exposed surface area of the cabinet in ft2

Use the following formula to determine area when H, W, and D are the cabinet dimensions in inches.2[(H x W) + (H x D) + (W x D)] ÷144 = Area (ft2)

Conversion: If dimensions are in millimeters, substitute 1,000,000 for 144. Then multiply the result by 10.76 to convert from m2 to ft2.

4. Determine the air conditioner capacity required

Use the following formula. (Watts x 3.413) + [(1.25 x Area in ft2) x ∆T in °F] = Required air conditioner capacity in Btu/Hr

ApplicationThese Hoffman SOHO Cabinets are designed to house LAN and WAN networking equipment, phone and voice mail equipment, and servers in an office environment. They are easily adapted to many different applications using Hoffman rack accessories and fan kits. Factory-installed casters provide mobility for equipment access and upgrades.

Sized to fit under a standard-height modular desktop, the cabinets are designed to draw cold air from the floor via louvers in the base and to exhaust hot air through the fan cutouts in the rear door. This creates a “chimney effect“ that supplies currents of cool air to internally mounted equipment. Optional 4 inch fans can be added to further increase airflow and provide increased heat dissipation.

Application

These Hoffman Type 1 Networking PC Cabinets are designed to house remote computers that are used for data entry and LAN and WAN access. They provide security from unauthorized access as well as physical protection. Ideal applications include light industrial, warehouse, electronic assembly, and other applications where remote network access is required.

The upper section provides ample space for large monitors, with a clear window that allows easy viewing without opening the door. The sliding keyboard tray offers convenient storage and access to the keyboard and mouse. The lower section has space for the processor and, with the addition of an optional shelf, a printer. The acrylic window is clear (no tint) and is field replaceable. The extruded aluminum door frame mounts flush and provides 27mm (1.06 in.) space from the inside of the window to the rack mounting surface when installed to the front recess. Used to close off the front or rear opening in a mini-rack when door access is not required. Fits into the recessed opening for flush installation. Cover provides 59mm (2.32 in.) space from inside of cover to rack mounting surface when installed in 60mm (2.36 in.) rear recess. Two quarterturn latches at the top and two pins in the bottom of the recessed opening secure the cover to the frame. The quarterturn latches have slotted inserts. Three rows of ventilation slots are provided near the top of the cover. A ground stud is provided. The cover is 1mm steel with a light gray (RAL7035) textured finish. All mounting hardware and strips of foam gasket are furnished.

Mini-Rack Cabinet Base Plate

Heavy duty stationary base provides a raised platform for the mini-rack cabinet. It also closes off the open bottom in the cabinet. The stationary base is 45mm (1.77 in.) high, which elevates the mini-rack 42.5mm (1.67 in.). The base has 70mm (2.76 in.) wide corner legs with a 15mm (0.59 in.) high opening between legs. The base is 2.5mm thick steel with mounting holes, three rows of ventilation slots and four embossed holes for mounting optional casters. A ground stud is provided. A set of four dual wheel casters provide mobility to the mini-rack. Casters only fit on the embossed holes provided in a stationary base. The casters and base elevate the mini-rack 80mm (3.15 in.) when installed. Wheels are 50mm (1.97 in.) diameter. Casters frames are steel with a plated finish. The non-locking casters have ball bearing pivots and hard plastic wheels. Mounting hardware is included. Four casters will support a maximum load of 530 lbs (240.4 kg).

Suitable for installing in the 60mm (2.36 in.) front or rear recessed door openings in the electronic rack. Door is full length safety glass with rounded edges and gray tint to reduce light reflection. Door can be hinged left or right with hinges attached to the upper and lower corners of the glass. Installed glass door provides 51mm (2.01 in.) from the inside of the door to the rack mounting surface. Furnished keylock latch with two keys fits through a hole in the glass and includes a protective plate on both sides of the glass. Hinges and latch are black. Plastic pads cushion the glass door when closed. All mounting hardware furnished.

Glass Door

Fits in the 60mm (2.36 in.) front or rear recessed door openings in the cabinet frame. The field replaceable 2mm thick untinted acrylic window is attached with spring clips and sealed with foam tape. The extruded aluminum door frame, finished with RAL 7035 light gray textured polyester powder paint, mounts flush and provides 54mm (2.13 in.) of space from the inside of the window to the rack mounting surface. Upper and lower hinge pins on the door fit into holes in the frame. Door can be hinged right or left. Black keylock latch with chrome lock insert and two keys is furnished. Frame has provision to attach a ground cable. Strips of foam gasket and all mounting hardware are provided.

Rack Cabinet Mobile Base

Casters, two locking and two non-locking, mount directly to the bottom of the frame. The casters elevate the cabinet 110mm (4.33 in.). Casters are made of black polyamide material. A set of four casters will support a maximum load of 1100 lbs. (499 kg). Adjustable feet with ball and socket construction fit into the bottom of the cabinet frame or into the mobile base. PROLINE® Door Accessories

Flush Swing Handles

Flush handles are optional for any solid, window, or disconnect door that includes 3-point latching, except Voice/Data and Colocation cabinets. They are ergonomically designed to provide style and function in a low profile. The handle is die-cast zinc finished with textured black polyester powder paint. Provision to add your logo is included. Handle can be installed to rotate either clockwise or counterclockwise.

Handle With Screwdriver Defeater

Enclosure security is provided by the integrated tool-to-open feature that releases handle when rotated, thus allowing access to enclosure.

Handle With Keylock

Keylock feature locks the handle to provide security for the enclosure. When the key is in the unlocked position, the pushbutton releases handle to provide access into the enclosure. Two keys are furnished.

Handle For Padlock

Padlocking handle provides security when using a 5/16 padlock. Pushbutton releases handle to provide access into the enclosure.

Handle With Din Profile Provision

DIN flush handle is provided with the option to add your DIN profile lock (see DIN Lock, below) or to accept Hoffman DIN Keylock PDKL (order separately, see DIN Lock, below).

The “L” handle is a stylish option for any solid, window, or disconnect door, except Voice/Data or Colocation cabinets. It can be installed to rotate either clockwise or counterclockwise. Handle includes keylocking provision and is finished with textured black polyester powder paint. Two keys are included. The handle permits your logo to be inserted.

DIN Lock

The DIN profile lock provides keylocking security for the flush swing handle with DIN provision. Includes profile lock and two keys. Order one profile lock for each handle. DIN Lock Kit for PROLINE® DataCom doors includes two locks keyed alike with one of 100 different key codes and two keys (master key available).

High Performance Pagoda Exhaust Vent

Pagoda exhaust vents can be field-installed on any PROLINE® solid top. An axial fan and finger guard are mounted in a housing. A drip-proof raised cover is removable from inside the enclosure. Gasket and mounting hardware are included. Vent housing and raised cover are 14 gauge steel finished with RAL 7035 textured gray polyester powder paint.

Mobile bases fit 600 and 800mm wide frames. They extend beyond the front and rear of 600mm cabinets to provide enhanced stability. Provides front extension only on 800mm cabinets. Constructed of steel finished in RAL 9005 textured black polyester powder paint. The base fastens to the underside of the frame and provides integral mounting

of furnished casters. The front and rear top surfaces of the base are trimmed with black rubber mats 3mm thick. Four non-locking casters provide a load-bearing capacity of 1000 lbs (499.0 kg). Casters and mounting hardware are furnished.
