IntroductionIn this document we have outlined the main Canto Cumulus digital asset management (DAM) solutions available that cover low to high-end implementations.

Cumulus is the original and leading digital asset management system developed by Canto. Cumulus offers a broad range of benefits including improved workflow management, data management, media asset management, file sharing, and image/video library management. The solution facilitates real-time collaboration by users and may be accessed via multiple platforms and devices.

It can be installed on a server either locally or on a cloud server, with different interfaces to suit the different needs of users. It comes with a powerful suite of functions built in and ready for immediate use. Being modular in design, you can easily add specific tools to customise the software to suit your business process and reporting obligations.

Cumulus comes in two editions – Workgroup and Enterprise – each suited to the particular needs and requirements of differing organisations. For each of the solutions listed, we have outlined the overriding purpose, any limitations, the specific capabilities and he suitability of the solution, and the services required. We have listed the relevant components and any options, expansions and ‘cookie cutting’ or template capabilities.

There are four solutions outlined based on the two editions - Cumulus Workgroup and Enterprise:

Pricing is included for the overall solutions and the individual components or expansions. Travel expenses will be negotiated according to requirements.NOTE: all pricing in this document is in Australian dollars.

1. Workgroup solution - BASEPurpose• provide a configurable, customisable and scalable solution for a client to establish their own digital repository of media content

• support a small-medium group of users, i.e. workgroup, managing content

• distribution of content to a wide audience

• allow for a client to grow into DAMS starting with just what is needed now and allows modular expansion.

Limitations• content accessibility is based upon broad classifications, such as 2-3 groupings

• users have to be managed on an individual basis

• users have to login with name and password

• five users concurrently logged in performing content management

• is a single instance with no load balancing, development or staging purposes.

Capabilities


• multiple different points of access (portals) based upon required usage and user profile

• web portal for content management

• web portal for content distribution - unlimited usage

• Mobile App for iOS devices

• desktop application for SMEs to curate contents.

Suitability• any client who values their digital assets and wants to invest in management of content

• school, small university, small retail, agency, small public sector such as local government or an independent cultural heritage organisation to manage content internally.

2. Workgroup solution - ExpansionsPurpose• providing modular functionality expansions for client• allowing for client to expand BASE to a MEDIUM level• typically a client will take 2-3 of these options to get a MEDIUM level.

Limitations• can reach a MEDIUM level before requiring rework of solution design and training to attain a more ADVANCED solution.

Capabilities* as BASE plus one or more of the following options.

Suitability• client with BASE solution wanting incremental increases in functionality or having specific needs.

7. Component DataBasics Audio Visual Solution DAVS: $2,300• allows you to play audio and videos directly in any of the Cumulus web portals• audio and video can be managed within Cumulus without any additional component, DAVS is about the playing/streaming of content• prerequisite is Roboflow.

Services• low $600• remote training and simple configuration.Note: range of additional capabilities may extend services as needed.

8. ComponentUploader: $5,100• web portal for bulk uploading and metadata entry• unlimited usage• targeted towards usage by users not involved in content management, only submission• typical examples include external photographers, agencies, school staff, etc.

3. Workgroup solution – PREMIUMPurpose• provide a configurable, customisable and scalable solution for a client to establish their own digital repository of media content• support a medium-large group of users, i.e. workgroup, managing content • intended for client with more substantial requirements for DAMS and wanting to start with a more complete implementation.

Limitations• single instance of solution, i.e. relies on backup of solution in case of disaster recovery• throughput of solution limitation may be reached based upon number of consumers, e.g. excess of 30 or integrations.

Capabilities• as per BASE• includes many of the options that make up functional differences to Enterprise scale solution.

Suitability• a client that sees DAMS forming an integral part of their business processes• client wishing to distribute content to a very wide audience including public consumption• university, medium level retail, larger public sector organisation and average sized cultural heritage organisation with delivery of content to a


wider audience.

Suitability• large number of users working in a controlled / structured way with large amounts of content• distribution and repurposing of large amounts of content• campus wide university with faculty/departmental compartmentalisation of content• retail wanting to have single source of media being supplied to multiple delivery channels such as ecommerce, catalogue, web, etc• public sector department providing content to all staff• major cultural heritage organisation wanting to engage in open access or commercialisation of their digital content
