Hello!I’m Paviter Singh, Partnership Developer at Hyper Island in Singapore. I head up our Labs and will be happy to answer any questions which you may have via email or over a coffee.

THE JOURNEY

DAY 1:IntroductionsClient BriefTalks + Workshops

DAY 3:Presentations to client and industry panel.Learning how to apply what you have learnt back at work.

A Lab is an intensive 3-day course which focuses on a specific topic, such as Social Media, User Experience, Data or Digital Marketing. In a Lab, you will get the opportunity to engage in workshops conducted by industry experts, while working in groups on a real client and real brief.

The lab is not a straight line. It’s filled with highs and lows, successes and set-backs. Throughout, we place equal emphasis developing skills around the “What” (the topic you are learning about) and the “How” (how to actually implement it in your workplace/team).

LEARNING OUTCOMES

after the creative data lab, you will be able to:

• Understand the concepts of Big Data and Open Data, how these concepts effect you and what you can do to apply it. Data opportunities for improving businesses

• Describe how data can be created and apply available tools to collect data

• Understand the basics of group dynamics and how to build effective teams

• Use tools to find sources of data on consumers, brands and markets, you will also use this data to draw insights and tell stories

• Discuss data, privacy and best practices around it

• Visualise data by scraping datasets and use tools to turn them into visualisations

• Use tools to access data that is not in an accessible format, and discuss the legal aspects of data scraping

THE HOW

The aim of the Lab is to create a safe place to fail. A chance for you to try new things, that may or may not work - at the Lab it’s the doing that counts - not the result!

One week before the course starts you’ll be invited to a

social network to meet your group and your HI team.

Throughout the 3-days you will have plenty of

discussions with your peers, this is where a lot of the

learnings happen.

Present your ideas back to the client, get feedback and evaluate with your group.

Lectures with international and local practitioners who will share their knowledge

and experience.
