PSMA’s Administrative Boundaries dataset is Australia’s most comprehensive national collection of boundaries, including government, statistical and electoral boundaries to support a wide range of analysis and segmentation activities.
Access & applicationsAdministrative Boundaries is available under open data terms. PSMA’s reseller partners develop products and solutions using this data. Applications of this dataset include:
ProfilingCombine with social, demographic and environment data to build area based profiles.
Improved policy & servicesEnables organisations to develop more accurate socioeconomic and demographic analysis, which helps to improve policy development and service delivery.
Emergency managementIdentifying areas under threat and recognising evacuation areas.
The Transport & Topography dataset provides a comprehensive picture of Australia’s transport infrastructure and unique topography. It is an importantfoundation for any location-based solution relating to people, activities and resources.
The Transport & Topography dataset is underpinned by a road centreline layer of over 2 million kilometres of roads, together with more than 30 types of transport, hydrology and green space features.
The transport theme includes:
• Roads – national network of roads across Australia including major highways, outback tracks, new roads and changes to current roads.
• Airports – all aspects of airport infrastructure from international airports to local landing strips.
• Rail – the national rail network with a separate layer showing railway stations, as well as tram lines.
The topography themes:• Hydrology – major and minor bodies of water, including oceans, lakes,
dams and rivers, and major water supply infrastructure, such as pipelines.• Green space – recreational parks, national parks, golf courses, botanical
gardens and other reserves.
Better service planningTransport & Topography enables analysis that includes remoteness indexing, distance to nearest facility and accessibility.
Emergency managementAuthoritative national information about highways, main roads, coastlines, major drainage, railway lines and key locality points is critical to emergency response planning, management and delivery. The standardisation and provision of such important data in a national dataset allows for easy state/territory cross-border activities and collaboration.

The Geocoded National Address File (G-NAF), first created by PSMA Australia in 2004, remains the most comprehensive and trusted address database in Australia.
Over 40 million addresses are collected by PSMA from authoritative sources comprising the governments of Australia and Commonwealth agencies. G-NAF is founded on a process that matches and resolves the range of official addresses and assigns an officially recognised geocode.
• More than 13.6 million geocoded addresses• Over 60,000 new addresses added every quarter• All addresses have a locality-level geocode• Over 96% of principal addresses are at property level (as opposed to just
street or locality)
Access and applicationsG-NAF is available as a dataset under open data terms and as a web service through PSMA Cloud, delivering the best available authoritative addresses in Australia. PSMA’s reseller partners develop products andsolutions using this data.
THE AUTHORITY ON AUSTRALIAN ADDRESSES
Australia’s first national Features of Interest dataset opens new possibilities for pinpointing landmarks, facilities and other key locations.
With the widespread adoption of personal navigation devices and web mapping applications, feature data is increasingly relied upon.
Features of Interest incorporates comprehensive urban centre locality data, including Indigenous locations. It also contains many places not described by an official address, for example, urban parks, water storage facilities, national park camping grounds and boat ramps.
Access & applicationsFeatures of Interest is an independent dataset that can be integrated with other PSMA datasets, such as G-NAF, to enhance functionality.
The inclusion of authoritative feature data supports:• Improved online maps• Enhanced personal navigation experiences• National catalogues of significant buildings, landmarks, public spaces,
and community facilities• Enhanced routing products• Validation of private databases.
