TRANSCRIPT
Assessment is the systematic process of documenting and using empirical data on the knowledge, skills, attitudes and
beliefs. It is an integral part of teaching and learning process, providing both feedback and feed-forward. It helps
students learn. When students are able to see how they are doing in a class, they are able to determine whether or
not they understand course material. In Credence High School, we support each pupil in the achievement of his or her
full learning potential and fosters the development of self-esteem and personal responsibility. It takes place in a self-
reflective context and encourages the involvement of all staff, pupils and parents.
Teachers at Credence High, use of the following data cycle across all phases in all subjects:
• Plan and teach- Teachers will plan and deliver lessons to students, using data from previous lessons or formative assessments to identify the areas of emphasis for the lesson and strategies for use in whole-class or small-group instruction.
• Assess- After lessons, teachers will take stock of where their students are and the depth of their understanding.
• Analyze- Individually and in teams, teachers will break down the results of assessments to identify areas of need. Data analysis will help pinpoint misconceptions, and areas of struggle for both individual students and the class as a whole. Data analysis can also reveal areas where students have mastered a topic and need no further instruction.
• Pivot- Based on the analysis of student data, teachers will adjust their approach to address student needs.
• Plan and teach- These changes are implemented into plans for the next round of teaching, and the cycle
continues. begins anew

Teachers assess student status before a unit of study begins (pre-assessment), throughout the unit of study (formative or ongoing assessment), and at key ending or wrap-up points in a unit of study (summative assessment):
• Pre-Assessment to determine a student's starting point with learning targets as well as with prerequisite knowledge, understandings, and skills that are essential to continued progress in a content sequence. It will also be used to know about students' interests and learning preferences.
• Formative (ongoing) Assessment to closely monitor a student's evolving knowledge, understanding, and skills—including any misunderstandings a student may have or develop about key content.
• Summative Assessment to evaluate a student's status with the learning targets at designated endpoints or checkpoints in a unit of study
• International and External Benchmarking Assessments: KHDA introduced the UAE National Agenda
Parameter in 2015-2016 as a method for measuring and monitoring Dubai’s private schools’ improvement
towards achieving their individual National Agenda targets. The parameter requires all schools to participate
in international and external benchmarking assessments on an annual basis (other than TIMSS and PISA), and
use them to monitor their progress in meeting these targets. The UAE National Agenda Parameter covers all
grades from Grades 3 to 9. Marks scored in these tests are not included in calculation of term–end grades.
▪ GL Cognitive ability test – CAT 4: It is conducted online and helps us to identify students’ potential to learn and attain. CAT4 is a suite of diagnostic assessments of developed ability and likely academic potential. By measuring a student’s ability to reason with different types of material, CAT4 allows teachers to assess the way a student thinks and how they will learn best, and in turn, enables teachers to adapt teaching accordingly. The test is not based on any curriculum or dependent on prior learning, offering a fair assessment of ability regardless of a student’s prior schooling.
▪ ASSET (Benchmark assessment in Mathematics, Science and English): ASSET Stands for Assessment of Scholastic Skills through Educational Testing. It is a scientifically designed, skill-based assessment test. Rather than testing rote learning, it uses multiple-choice questions to focus on measuring how well SKILLS and CONCEPTS underlying the school syllabus have been understood by the student. The test provides information on the strengths and weaknesses of individual students and also entire classes.
• Other Assessments are also conducted to help students to improve their higher order thinking skills and gain
master over difficult topics. Marks scored in these tests are not included in calculation of term–end grades.
▪ CTPS (Critical Thinking & Problem Solving-Grades 3 to 9): It is a series of tests of objective type of questions, conducted at regular intervals to help students improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills. These tests have questions from three subjects: English, Math & Science.

▪ Mastery Assessments (Grades 3 to 10): School has collaborated with Open Door Education in order to help children gain mastery over Mathematics & Science concepts and establish a strong foundation in these subjects. Open Door is a result of years of teaching and research on how children learn. Open Door aims at developing the habit of “learning by understanding” among school children. Mastery Assessments help our teachers drive improvements in our students’ understanding through remediation and repeated assessments. It helps students in not only developing higher order skills in Math & Science but also in preparation for formal assessments like periodic reviews and term-end exams. This Open Door Assessment will take place as soon as a few conceptual based chapters are completed by the teacher and the same will be informed to the students by the subject teachers.

Co-Scholastic Areas
Health and Physical Education (with Work Experience subsumed in it)
Assessment of Co-scholastic Areas will be continuously done by collecting information, reflecting on and using that information to review children’s progress and to plan future learning experiences. The documented data, after interpretation, will be reflected in the Report Card of the children in the form of grades. In the existing scheme of assessment, these activities will be graded on 8-point grading scale (A1 to E).

Assessment of Co-scholastic Areas will be continuously done by collecting information, reflecting on and using that
information to review children’s progress and to plan future learning experiences. The documented data, after
interpretation, would be reflected in the Report Card of the children in the form of grades. In the existing scheme of
assessment, these activities will be graded on a 5-point grading scale (A to E) for grades 2-10. The concerned teacher
would make an objective assessment of the level of performance/ participation demonstrated by a student throughout
the academic year and finally assign grades. While the students are engaged in the co-scholastic areas, the process is
as important as the product. Hence, the assessment in these areas should take account of both aspects. The basis of
assessment is given below:
Co-scholastic Areas Product Process
Health and Physical Education which includes Work Experience
Overall fitness Participation, team-spirit, commitment and honest effort.
Art Education Expression, creativity and Aesthetic appeal
Participation, cooperativeness, patience, systematic approach, neatness and cleanliness in work and workplace and devotion and honest effort in work

Discipline (Attendance, Sincerity, Behaviour, Values)
Discipline significantly impacts career shaping and helps build character, sincerity, self-control,
perseverance, good behavior and values. Constitutional and universal values are encouraged amongst
students. Hygiene, sanitation, dedication, honesty, truthfulness, kindness, empathy respect for the
environment, elders and all living things etc. are the values that our students must actively practice. Parents
should also support schools in cultivating disciplined behavior in their wards. Class teacher will grade the
students on a Five-point scale (A to E) keeping in view the overall attendance, sincerity, values and behavior
of the students.
Please note:
❖ Though tests/exams/activities have been planned keeping all key aspects in mind, the dates are
subject to change.
❖ Change if any in policy/dates will be intimated to the parents well in advance.
