ContributionsContributions Proposes the first complete design and evaluation of a
localized, energy efficient and multi-objective
QoS-aware routing protocol.
It implements almost a homogenous energy dissipation rate for all nodes using a multi-objective lexicographic optimization based geographic forwarding.
It uses a modular design architecture where routing of delay-critical and reliability-critical packets are handled separately by employing independent modules for each.

Problem DefinitionProblem Definition
The QoS provisioning in BASNs is a challenging task
with several problem area:
• The dynamic network topology,• Time-varying wireless channel ,• Scarcity of node energy ,
computational power , and channel bandwidth ,• Wide variation in data generation rate ,
delay and loss tolerances amongst the data packets of
different BMSs.

Problem DefinitionProblem Definition
Several mechanisms have bees proposed to mitigate
the problems of multi-objective QoS provisioning in wireless networks:
MCMP uses link delay & reliability as parameter ,data packets are duplicated at source nodes. But do not consider residual energy or progress speed.
MMSPEED avoids energy consideration. It sends duplicate packets toward multiple paths , and multiple reliability and delay bound packets are considered for QoS provisioning.

Problem DefinitionProblem Definition
In DARA a weighted aggregate routing metric consisting of geographic progress , delay, and energy is considered for supporting critical and non-critical data packets. But
use of same routing function for all packet types deteriorates its performance.
LOCALMOR, its routing function have been separated for multiple packets types, But uses fixed number of sinks (primary and secondary sinks) . Blind duplication of packets towards both sinks makes it un-scalable.

Network ModelNetwork ModelThe network model has several basic components: All Biomedical sensors (BMSs) transmits data to a central
node, called body sensor mote (BSM). All BSMs process & forward data to multiple sink in multi-hop
fashion. In this architecture ,the master and slave BSMs form clusters of
BASN ,these clusters form the backbone network ,as shown in previous slide.
Each BSM node broadcast a HELLO packet to its neighbors which contains:• Its current position.• Residual energy.• Average queuing delays.

Proposed QoS-aware RoutingProposed QoS-aware RoutingDMQoS consists of 5 modules:
• The dynamic packet classifier.• Delay control.• Reliability control.• Energy-aware geographic routing.• QoS-aware queuing and scheduling.
• OP: Ordinary data packets.
• RP: Reliability driven data packets.
• DP: Delay driven data packets.
• CP: Most critical data packets.
