CHAPTER 1

OVERVIEW

This guide outlines how to buy and set up Data Centre Interconnect. It will provide you with information on

how to access, view and manage your DCI service through the Dynamic Network Portal, and how to set up

ports, flows and bursts.



CHAPTER 2

BUYING DATA CENTRE INTERCONNECT

Data Centre Interconnect (DCI) can be bought through Telstra’s Dynamic Network Portal. You can register

for the Dynamic Network Portal in two places: the Internet VPN page on our website or the Cloud Services

Store.

On our website, the Buy online button takes you directly to the Dynamic Network Portal registration page on

the Cloud Services Store.

If you’ve arrived directly to the Cloud Services Store, you’ll see tiles representing every cloud service

including Data Centre Interconnect. Select the DCI tile to register.

Note that if you’ve arrived at the Cloud Services Store via the website, you’ll land directly on the Dynamic

Network Portal registration page and will not see tiles for all services.

Step 1 – Register for Telstra’s Dynamic Network Portal via the Cloud Services Store

If you’re an existing Telstra customer login with your credentials

If you don’t already have Telstra login details for the Cloud Services Store, you need to

register for a Telstra ID

Once you’ve logged in, you’ll need to complete the registration form. You’ll then get a link to the

Dynamic Network Portal to purchase your Data Centre Interconnect.

Step 2 – Enter the Dynamic Network Portal

Once you have completed registration, enter Telstra’s Dynamic Network Portal, which is a secure self-

service online portal that provides you with a simple way to select, subscribe to and activate your service. It

provides visibility to all of your DCI products and helps you quickly make changes as required. The portal

also allows you to track the status and performance of your service package.

If you’ve logged out of your Telstra online account prior to entering the Dynamic Network Portal, you’ll be

asked to log in again. Use your Telstra online credentials to log in.

Once you have entered the Dynamic Network Portal, you'll arrive at the Shop tab.

CHAPTER 3 BUYING A PORT

Step 1 – Select Data Centre Interconnect port

‘Select port’ screen

You have to purchase two ports before you can purchase a flow. If you try to purchase a flow without

purchasing ports first, you’ll see this error message:

Step 2 – Select a data centre

A drop-down list of data centres will display. Select a port location.

Step 3 – Configure your port

Choose a unique name for each port you buy and select a speed, either 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps.



Choose either Access or Trunk VLAN availability.

Select either copper or fibre in the Port type.



Save your port configuration.

Step 4 – Review your order

Review your order (NOTE: prices do not include GST)

Key in a dealer code if you purchased your service through a dealer or a dealer has assisted you

Review the Terms and Conditions link at the bottom of the Order Review page



Step 5 – Accept the Terms and Conditions and purchase

You’ll receive an email confirmation with your order details, and an email with a secure link to access your

Letter of Authority. For more details about the Letter of Authority, please see our Technical Guide.

Your service will appear in Provisioning status on the Services screen until two ports have been purchased

and a cross connect has been completed.



The details of your port will appear on the right hand side when you click on the tile.

To purchase another port, return to the Shop.



CHAPTER 4

BUYING A FLOW

Once you have two active ports, you can then purchase a data flow connection between the two ports.

Step 1 – Select Data Centre Interconnect in Shop



Step 2 – Select Data Centre Interconnect flow

You’ll be taken to this screen:



Step 3 – Select the first port

Step 4 – Enter the port details

This includes the Port ID and VLAN ID. For more information, please see our Technical Guide.



Step 5 – Save the first port details

Step 6 – Repeat the same for the the second port



Step 7 – Configure the DCI flow

To do this, click on the line in between the two ports.

Step 8 – Enter the flow details

This includes the naming the Flow, its Bandwidth, Latency and Service Level. For more information, please

see our Technical Guide.



Step 9 – Save the flow configuration

Step 10 – Select Price Plan to continue



Step 11 – Select a price plan

All price plans renew automatically monthly. Daily, hourly and monthly plans show individual and estimated

monthly costs; 12,24 and 36 month plans have contract terms and early termination charges may apply for

early cancellations.

You’ll receive an email confirmation with your flow detail.

Your service will appear as Up on the Services screen.



The details of your flow will appear on the right hand side when you click on the tile.

To purchase another flow, or to add a flow burst, return to the Shop.



CHAPTER 5

ADDING A BURST

You can temporarily increase the bandwidth of your flow by adding a burst. You can do this from the Flow

information tile in Services.

Step 1 – Select the required flow and click Add Bursting from the right hand panel

Step 2 – Configure the Bandwidth and Duration of your burst

Step 3 – Save the configuration and review your order




You’ll receive an email confirmation with your burst details.

Step 5 – Click OK and return to the Services page

Click on flow tile to view live burst information at the bottom of the right hand panel.

Only your most recent burst will be shown in this panel. For more information, please see our Technical

Guide.



CHAPTER 6

ADDING A USER

To add another User or for support, return to the Cloud Services Portal.



Step 1 – Select Add User

Step 2 – Add the user’s details



Your selection will then be confirmed.



CHAPTER 8

SUPPORT

If your service isn’t working, click on the Support link on the Cloud Services Portal support page.

You can log an incident or if your issue is urgent, contact your Managed Service Desk via email at

[email protected] or call 1800 620 345 and quote your subscription ID. We're

available 24/7.

Please have the following information ready when you contact us:

What has changed since the last time it worked?

Has the service worked before? Or is this a new service?

What is the problem related to?

Subscription ID – you can find this in the Dynamic Network section of the Cloud Services Portal.
