What is Data Analytics?
3
What is Data Analytics?• It is the process of examining raw data using specialized
computer systems with the goal of discovering useful information.
4
Why Data Analytics?• Performs qualitative analysis of large volumes of data to
uncover hidden patterns, trends and other insights• Enables improved and fast decision-making• Provides powerful visualizations of information for better
“story-telling”• Efficient and cost-effective for generating, storing and
sharing information

Stormwater Drainage System Performance
14
PurposeAnswer the question of “What rainfall profiles represent the highest risk”?
Approach• Use HEC-HMS and
HEC-RAS model for 122 simulations for different rainfall durations, rainfall volume, storm intensity factor and shape, and varying efficiencies of the entire system.
Conclusion• The “shape” of the
storm profile is just as important as the total volume of rain.
• Corroborates with operator observations.
