Manu and Manav were siblings. Manu was a student of class II and Manav of class IV. They were elated as they didn’t have to go to school on Saturday as general elections were scheduled on the same day and therefore a holiday was declared. So Manu asked his father , ”Papa we have a holiday on Saturday, can’t we plan a trip to grandmother’s place during the weekend”. His father said,” we cannot go out of the town as I have to cast my vote. Manav said, ”Can’t you miss voting? What difference will your vote make?”His father explained them the importance of a casting a vote , he told them that being a citizen of our country we should fulfill our duties towards it. For example we have the right to drink water from the public taps, but it is also our responsibility to close the tap. We should not misuse the facilities offered to us by the state and also we need to use the natural resources wisely. Then Manu asked ,”What are the other duties of a good citizen?”His father said, ”Avoid wastage of water, electricity, food and fuel. We should also keep our environment clean.
