After a start-up phase of more than one year the Bremen tramway museum called „DAS DEPOT“ could fi nally be opened in 2003. Since then visitors have been welcomed every second Sunday of each month.The exhibition involves chronological tables concerning the history of the Bremen tramway as well as practical explanations of the cars, the overhead contact lines and the engineering of a tramcar. Furthermore the history of tramway charges, billboards and signposting are shown. The model tramway offers you the chance to drive a model tramcar yourself using a real controller. Our historical tramcars, on the other hand, can be viewed in the hall next door to the museum.

Workgroups

Conductors and driversHere you can fi nd members of all the following groups who like to do the job of a conductor or driver in their leisure time. The conductor has to sell tickets and explain the places of interest along the jour-ney. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Vehicle careBefore setting off with a museum tram we have to check if there are enough tickets on board, the car is clean and the right line- and destination signs are on the tram.

Workshop and renovation groupThe workshop and renovation group concentrates on the maintenance of our operational museum trams and furthermore on the renovation of other vehicles.

Archival groupThe aim of the archival group is a nearly complete review of the his-tory of the Bremen tramway and its archiving.

Workgroup for publicationsNearly every year we produce a new issue of a little book called „Die Elektrische“. A group of members writes about current and historical themes. Pictures from our archive complete the stories.
