Denmark is a controlledtime culture, and adherence to schedules is important and e+pected.

people0s condence. /eople in controlledtime cultures tend to have their time highly

scheduled, and it0s generally a good idea to provide and adhere to perormance milestones.

&'ective crossculture management skill will depend on the individual0s ability to meet

-ompanies are relatively fat with ew hierarchical layers. %anagers do not faunt their

positions and preer to be seen as members o the team. Although not as group ocused assome other cultures, employees oten sub1ugate their desires or the good o the group.

%anagers generally act as coordinators or team leaders rather than autocratic micro

managers. *hey are taskoriented and emphasie achieving a goal, productivity and prots.

 *hey e+pect their employees to do their 1ob in a proessional manner. Danes are oten $uite

comortable working in teams and do not e+pect to be singled out or their contribution.

-ross cultural management needs to understand the Danes undamental belie in an

egalitarian society. *his means they support a participative management style.

%ost employees are members o a union. *he pay scales or the same 1ob are relatively

e$ual across companies, so employees seldom move companies in an attempt to securemore pay or per$uisites.

 *he role o the leader is to harness the talent o the group assembled, and develop any

resulting synergies. *he leader will be deerred to as the nal authority in any decisions that

are made, but they do not dominate the discussion or generation o ideas. /raise should be

given to the entire group as well as to individuals.

-ommunication and 3egotiation Styles

-ross cultural communication should be relatively straight orward when dealing with the

Danes. *hey like to get down to business $uickly and are direct and rank communicators.

 *hey are detailoriented and negotiations are normally carried out in a reserved and polite

manner. Decisions are normally made ater consulting with everyone involved.
