Working with mr. Kanes at core motor sport as an assistant applicator has been a fantastic opportunity. Working at core has given me the chance to work with some very high profile motor sport companies and teams such as rml chevrolet, Status racing, arden racing and many others. this has been a very beneficial learning curve and at first i found it very dif-ficult in relation to working on standard colour changers with air release vinyl. at core, there has been times were we have had to work long days under difficult conditions with very temperamental vinyls such as oracle 951. although this was difficult at first i soon became comfortable with the vinyl and then found working with air release at carbon Skin very easy and quick. i strongly feel that working under industry leaders such as Jame Dea-con and martyn Kanes has undoubtably left me in a confident position where i am very comfortable in approaching difficult jobs with a high understanding of meth-ods and technics that result in professional and high quality finish within a satis-factory time scale.

Here i have been doing work experience on available days when not working at core motor-sport. at first i was mainly a helping hand, and initially set on cleaning and preparing the vehicles ready for wrapping. it was soon clear that i was eager and able to produce qual-ity wrapping work. Working here was good for confidence building and was a grate experience working with prestige cars, large vans and some unusual projects like androids for the bomb squad.

Here i worked building marquees throughout the summer of 2007 whilst working on my master’s degree. although it was a much smaller scale company to what i was used to, the principles were the same. i enjoyed working here because i enjoyed learning new styles of marquees which i had not previously encountered. as well as this i found enjoyment working with a newer company because it reminded me of when i started at nationwide and there were no fork lift trucks and fleets of wagons. this meant everything was hand lifted on and off the vans and also caring large bags of canvas across huge event sites. this would leave me completely drained at the end of the day but satisfied that i had done a good days graft.

Here i spent 4 to 5 seasons working on marquees. this consisted of all kinds of marquee re-lated work. i gained strong experience with marquees from 3m to 20m roders and Hockers, as well as traditional style marquees. not only having a good knowledge of the construction of marquees but i have had experience with being left responsible for medium sized teams, and to make sure that the marquees are down and packed ready for the drivers to collect. on contrast to this i have also worked on jobs were i have been on my own and have no choice to use my own initiative to solve problems and get the jobs finished on time.

Here i work on some small freelance animated pieces to advertise things such as stationary shops, to countryside bed and breakfast accommodation. these were created in after effects and rendered as flash files for web use.

i was working as a store assistant in a busy high street shop from September 2007 to april 2008 part time. my dutys were to keep store clean and well presented throughout the day, rotating stock between the different seasons and serving customers either behind the till or solving any problems that they had. from this i learned good communication skill and devel-oped the confidence to approach the public in a confident and friendly manor within a cus-tomer facing sales environment.
