Damaged Hair Is your hair just not feeling the same? Is your hair breaking? do
you have split ends? Is your hair dull and lifeless??
In general there are 4 ways you can damage your hair and there
is actually a lot of science behind the damage that can be done to
your hair.
1. Thermal damage – this is no real surprise though is it? Of
course all that heat from your hair tools – blow dryer, etc is
damaging your hair. At Head Case Hair we realise that you
want to style your hair and to do that you need heat – so
what do you do? Our hairdressers in Paddington know that
hair responds to temperatures differently and the higher the
temperature the more damage you do to the protein in your
hair. Rather than having your hair straightener or blow
dryer on the hottest setting, lower the temperature okay it
might take you a few minutes more, but you’ll be saving your hair.
2. Mechanical – This damage happens when you roughly
towel dry or brush and comb your hair and this damage
happens when your hair is wet. Think of your hair as a
spring, you pull it and it snaps back, but eventually it gets
to that point where it doesn’t snap back – when your hair is
wet it’s easier to pull that *spring* so you shouldn’t play with it too much. Hairdressers in Sydney recommend
squeezing the moisture from your hair (rather than rubbing)
and brush or comb it when it’s mostly dry.
3. Chemical – The degree of damage done to your hair by
bleaching, perming, colouring depends on how aggressive
the treatment was – perming uses a few chemicals and
lightening your hair can be more damaging than colouring
your hair. Dyeing strips away the *F-layer* of your hair (this
is a layer of fatty acid that is bound to your hair cuticle and
is responsible for hair's natural shine, smoothness and
softness) when you lose this layer you have hair more
susceptible to damage.
4. Environmental – A huge contributing factor to hair damage
is UV Radiation – it penetrates the hair and breaks down its
protein. So what can you do to repair your damaged hair?
Unfortunately hairdressers in Sydney know you can’t actually repair the damage that’s already been done, but at Head Case Hair they can fix the effects of the damage and
make your hair look like the damage was never there. At
the Head Case Hair salon in Darlinghurst a Deluxe
treatment is just $40 or a hair therapy treatment is
available for $25.00.
If you have any concerns about your damaged hair talk to the
