MIKE2.0 is available to anyone just go to

    www.openmethodology.org

    MIKE2.0 is open source (Creative

Commons) and completely free It is not software (with one exception)

Whether a vendor or user, you can build on

MIKE stands for Method for an Integrated Knowledge Environment

MIKE2.0 is a comprehensive approach to Enterprise Information Management

MIKE2.0 brings together important concepts around Open Source and Web 2.0

    What is SAFE?

SAFE is the architecture framework for the MIKE2.0 Methodology

    Information Layer

In MIKE2.0, Information is as important as business functions/processes and integration. While obvious

when laid out in this way, it is amazing how few projects are engineered around the information. This is

despite increasing evidence that 100% of projects with poor information engineering practices are deemed

    to be a failure.

Case Study DEEWR Information Management Strategy

DEEWR was created on the 3rd December 2007as a result of a Machinery of Government (MoG)change after the November 2007 federal election

    25 MIKE2.0 (www.openmethodology.org)

This provided some backgroundunderstanding of the organisationand current IM situation.

Previous work with DEEWR included ICTStrategy, and comparison of DEST/DEWRmerger with similar private sector mergercosts and benefits.

Information Management Strategy work started early in 2010

Case Study DEEWR Information Management Strategy

DEEWR is large, broad and complex

Over $43 billion total funds administered for FY11/12

About 20 main locations across all states/territories

Covering child care, schools, universities, employers, apprenticeships, indigenousemployment, job seekers, unemployment, administration of 10 relevant Acts etc

In one sense or another has entire population and all businesses as clients

    (so information management is critical)

Case Study DEEWR Information Management Strategy

    A key IM challenge

Current reporting effective where there is directownership or a direct funding relationship with theinformation source and reporting is directly alonglines of business

New departmental information driver is reportingthat correlates information across multiple linesof business to link programs driven from oneline of business to metrics measured withinanother line of business
