KINDERGARTEN VACANCIES 2018 Could I please ask parents to ensure that neighbours and friends who may have children eligible to attend kindergarten next year have actually enrolled their children? We are certainly keen to enrol a few more kindergarten students. All enquiries welcome! ASSEMBLY What a wonderful performance we had this morning from our technology whizzes from TA 7. Our year three students chose the theme “Science and Technology” and took us on a journey through time with many enlightening facts about how much technology has changed over the centuries and how important science and technology are to everyone today. The class looked fantastic dressed up as all different types of technology. Congratulations to all students, Mrs Orchard and Mrs Berry on a most enjoyable assembly. Congratulations also to the various award winners including our Chess Club students. See inside for further details. MOORDITJ NOONGAR COMMUNITY COLLEGE VISIT Next Thursday we will welcome a class of students from the Moorditj Noongar Community College as part of a cultural partnership between the two schools. Ms Wise has liaised with staff at Moorditj to commence this partnership and along with Mrs Menegaldo they have organised this visit and we look forward to students from both schools getting to meet each other and work on a range of activities through the day. SCHOOL BOARD MEETING The next school board meeting will be held next Thursday 3 August commencing at 6:30pm in the staffroom. PLAY AFTER SCHOOL Thank you to parents for your support with the additional siren after school. This appears to have worked very well this week.
Have a great week,
Don Boyes Principal

Plastic Free July Pledge
Dalmain Primary School has had a whole school focus
on Plastic Free July with every student and staff
member completing a pledge.
A sample of student and staff pledges have been on
display in the undercover area.
TA 7 Assembly 27 July 2017
Plastic Free July in TA 5 Students in TA5 have really taken the Plastic Free July message on board. Many students have been bringing nude food every day and most have stopped using single-use plastic zip lock bags as well. TA5 have also been exploring the use of plastic in multi-pack snack foods (such as Tiny Teddies). They
conducted a maths investigation to measure the amount of plastic in a multi-pack of biscuits
compared to a box. They were shocked to find that the multi-pack packaging uses almost six times as
much plastic per serve compared to a single box.
GIFTED AND TALENTED: Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC)
ASSESSMENT OF YEAR 4 STUDENTS FOR THE PEAC PROGRAM
The PEAC Program provides part time extension and enrichment for exceptionally able students in Years 5 and 6. PEAC offers a range of courses that provide the most able students with work that is intellectually challenging. All students in Year 4 will have the opportunity to be assessed for suitability for the PEAC Program. Students who are performing well at school are possible candidates for the program. There are some students in Year 4 whose potential is not so easily recognised. There may be students who are underachieving at school and there are some students who demonstrate certain skills and abilities more at home than at school. Together, we can ensure that all students who have the potential for high academic performance are identified. Testing at Dalmain Primary School will occur on Tuesday 15th August at 9.00am The test will measure the student’s ability to recognise patterns and to predict with speed and accuracy and measure each child’s ability to apply their knowledge and learning. The scores from the test will be used in the selection of students for PEAC courses and extension programs conducted in 2018 and 2019 and also to inform educational provision in schools. If you do not wish your child to be included in the PEAC assessment please notify the school in writing by Friday 11th August 2017.
Eileen Buswell Deputy Principal / PEAC Coordinator
Please be advised there has been a case of Scabies reported at the school. Some information has been provided below:
