Dallas Regional Conference and Competitions Event Friday, February 28th– Sunday March 2nd PROGRAM CONTENT AND TOPICS (Please refer to the master schedule for all activities) Jack Mundy, Dallas Regional Conference and Competitions Conference Chair. Jack is the owner of Ener-Gard Energy Products Inc. of Burlington, Ontario (Canada) and he has been in the window film business for over 35 years. He is known for being active in projects and activities that promote the industry and has always been instrumental in representing the industry in the Canadian market. He serves on the IWFA Board of Directors and chairs the dealer-focused Members Action Committee (MAC) of the IWFA. In 2013 the IWFA made the decision to bring the organization to the members. This event is part of our commitment and there will be more to come. I am proud to be a member of the IWFA and hope you will join me too if you are not part of the ‘team’. Thank you for coming to the conference and competition events. 10:00 am Exhibitor Demonstration – Solar Gard Gary Benoit of Solar Gard will showcase and cover the tips and techniques of their computer cutting software program. 2:00 pm Exhibitor Demonstration: Eastman’s Tricks of the Trade Chris Howell, Marketing Technical Services Rep, Eastman Chemical Company, will offer a demonstration of window film installation techniques and tricks of the trade; including “snapping,” the “tugging” heat form method, and FilmOn vs. detergent. These techniques will help you shrink film to its maximum limitation on more challenging back windows and promote better bond to the glass. Viewers will leave the demo with the knowledge to implement these unique tricks of the trade.

Working with an IWFA accredited dealer assures the public that the specialist has completed testing on the proper uses and technical aspects of window film products,” states Darrell Smith, executive director of the IWFA. Darrell will lead the Accreditation Classes and Testing program.

John Parker, president of the IWFA and owner of National Security and Window Filming Company will discuss why he’s proud to be a member of the IWFA and how the association is helping the membership to achieve greater success. He has been in the window film business for nearly 20 years and has been active in the IWFA since 2004, serving as secretary & president. 9:00 am Seminar: Glass Technology World Cup

Urmilla Sowell, PE, Technical Director, Glass Association of North America (GANA) Urmilla Sowell will be speaking on the newest trends in technology changes and uses of architectural glass, so the audience can better understand the glazings of the future. Her presentation will also cover some of the more innovative uses of architectural glazing emerging in the marketplace. She will discuss challenges, which both the glass and window film industry might face in dealing with non-standard glazings encountered in field use. She will also share her view of the value of the increased communications between the glass and window film industry, as well as some of the questions and doubts, which still may remain. Urmilla is the Technical Director of GANA. She earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University, Lubbock TX, and is a licensed Professional Engineer. Urmilla was previously employed by Hurricane Test Laboratory, LLC, where she served as the Assistant Operations Manager after serving as a Test Engineer and Technical Writer for that company. She joined GANA in 2007. She also serves as the GANA liaison to the Protective Glazing Council (PGC) and is currently the PGC’s President.

Sara Meaney, Managing Director, BVK. Sara will discuss how to build a strategy that helps your business to be invited in, rather than breaking through.
