DALKEITH/NEDLANDS BOWLING CLUB REVIVEDThe new sign outside the BowlingClub reflects the new moodprevailing at Dalkeith/Nedlands.
Having exceeded the goal of 50 newmembers during 1989/90, the Clubis now reaping the reward. Seventeennew players have nominated forpennants for the 1990/91 season, afull team. Many of those new playersare now introducing their friends tobowls on Sunday roll-ups. With thirtysets of bowls available, casual dressbeing the standard, and coaches inattendance, we have found a mostsuccessful way of recruitment.
It is obvious the Club is now at its
lowest point as far as pennant bowlsis concerned - one 3rd and two 5thdivision teams. The object in 1990/91 will be to hold our 3rd and seekpromotion of one 5th Division.Withthe continuing influx of new bowlers, time will be required for them to gainthe experience in order to advanceto further grades, and establish moreteams.
Due to the Club's healthy financialposition, the Committee has seenfit to air-condition the Clubhouseand install a gas heater in the bar. These additions have been madefor the comfort of members, whichhas to be a major consideration for
Dalkeith/N edlands, with 312members, is now the 9th largest Clubin the Metro area. Our tWQ othergreat strengths for the future areGreenkeeper, Brendon Joyce (7 yearsservice) and Bar Manager, HenryStevens Cl year). Both make atremendous contribution for thebenefit of members who have the useof some of the best greens and barservice in the Metro area, on one ofthe most magnificent sites on theSwan River.
Bring your friends along to the Clubwith a great future.

For the second time in 1990, oneof our active members is to turn "90"- Ted Ryan - who still regularlybowls.
Having joined' the Club in 1961, Tedhas never played pennant bowls, saying he was far too .good a golferat Cottesloe (6 handicap at ·best)to play pennant bowls. WifeDorothy, has also been a.champio~golfer at Cottesloe and ChidleyPoint.
Ted spent 30 years with "Ryan andThomas" tyre business in Subiaco.
A very popular chap at the bar, wewish Ted and Dorothy all the bestfor the future.

Robin had a long history with theUniversity of W.A, and Currie Hall.
As with his other pursuits in life,Robin served the Bowling Club witha great deal of enthusiasm. He firstheaded up the RecruitmentCommittee, then took over Greensthree years ago. The three majorgreens are now in excellent shape, with two others to be replanted.
Allwill sadly miss Robin. We pass onour sympathy to his widow, Norma.
VALE -JOCKJORDANAfter a long illness, Jock Jordan -...:...a recent Past President of the Club- passed away.
Jock, who spent his working dayswith E.S. Wigg & Son, will be long
