Size and LocationDaintree rainforest is located in the northeast coast of Queensland in Australia, in the north of Mossman and Calrns. It is approximately 1,200 square kilometers in area and is the largest continuous area of rainforest in Australias continent. It covers 20% of Australias landmass. The tropical rainforest grows right down to the edge of the sea.

TribesThe first human inhabitants of the Daintree rainforest were Aboriginal people, also known as the Kuku Yanlanji people, the indigenous inhabitants of the land which stretches from around Cook town in the north to near Chillagoe in the west and Port Douglas in the South. There are more than 16 groups who have associations with the area. The Aboriginal people that live in the rainforest rely on it for spirituality, religion, food and medicine.

Positive human impacts include: Humans protecting the daintree rainforest by the daintree national park and drained by the daintree river. It contains significant habitat for rare species and prolific birdlife. Also, the roads near the forest have been designed to minimize the bad impacts on the daintree rainforest. Negative human impacts include: Minding, which humans destroys the rainforest in order to get minerals, logging, agriculture by farmers burning the rainforest for farming, tourism, which disturbs animals and destroys habitats, and Development, which covers everything from subdivision of land to building roads and fences which disturbs habitats.
