The processing which occurs at each stage is assumed to be learned and the degree of this learning is evaluated with respect to two criteria: accuracy and automaticity. At the accuracy level of performance, attention is assumed to be necessary for processing;at the automatic level it is not. Experimental procedures are described which attempt to measure the degree of automaticity achieved in perceptual and associative learning task. Factors which influence the development of automaticity in reading are discussed.

RESEARCH STUDY RELATED TO INFORMATION PROCESSING

Human Information Processing in Accounting : The State Of The Art

Accountants interest in decision making is resulting in growing body of research based upon theories and models from the psychology of information processing. This papers presents a classification of information processing variables which have been studied by psychologist which serves as a framework of organizing information processing research in accounting. In the reviews and evaluates the existing accounting literature based upon three research :the lens model, probabilistic judgement, and cognitive style. Finally, directions for future research in this area are suggested.

An earlier version of this paper was presented at the 1976 Annual Meeting of the American Accounting Association , Atlanta, Georgia

Information Processing Is an approach to the goal of understanding human thinking in a relation to how they process the same kind of information as computers . The information processing approach in psychology is closely allied to the computational theory of mind in philosophy, it I also related though not identical , to cognitivsm in psychology and functionalism in philosophy,
