COMPARISON

CRUDE OIL PRICES RISE ON TUESDAY

Crude futures climbed on Tuesday on the back of curtailed crude output as Libya’s National Oil Company declared force majeure on supplies from the El Sharara oilfield coupled with

a fall in the US crude inventories.

Brent futures gained by 23 cents or 0.38 percent and were at $60.20 per barrel, while WTI futures climbed by 65 cents or 1.27 percent at $51.65 per barrel.

Prices gained as the National Oil Company (NOC) of Libya declared force majeure on Monday on exports from the El Sharara oilfield, the country's biggest, which was seized last

weekend by a militia group. The shutdown would result in a production loss of 315,000 barrels per day, and an additional loss of 73,000 bpd at the El Feel oilfield.

Prices also rose as the American Petroleum Institute (API) in its report published on Tuesday stated a huge crude oil inventory draw of 10.18 million barrels for the week ending

December 7. The API also reported a draw in gasoline inventor ies in the amount of 2.484 million barrels. Meanwhile, Distillate inventories were up this week by 712,000 barrels,

compared to an expected build of 1.801 million barrels. Inventories in the Cushing, Oklahoma facility this week had climbed by 642,000 barrels.
