JAMMU, Dec 8: Whilesharply reacting to the state-ment of Chief Minister OmarAbdullah that J&K belongs toSheikh Abdullah and not to Dr.Shayma Prasad Mukherjee,BJP today said that this state-ment does not behove of aChief Minister of the State.

BJP States Spokesperson &State Election Media InchargeArun Kumar Gupta said thatJ&K belongs to the respectedcitizens of the State and thatnobody has ever said that theState belongs to Mukherjee.

He said that OmarAbdullah, by making thesestatements is only trying toprove his hollowness and poorknowledge of history. TheState of Jammu & Kashmir tillits accession on 26 Oct 1947belonged to the Maharaja HariSingh and thereafter belongs tothe citizen of all the threeregions of the State namelyJammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.By stating that it belongs toSheikh Abdullah, he is tryingto create a wedge between thethree regions and resorting tocheap politics. Even when hewas the Chief Minister ofJ&K, he had to be remindedfrequently that he is not theCM of a particular region only

but of the entire State. It isunfortunate that rather thanmending his ways, he is restor-ing to the politics of 'divideand rule', Mr Gupta said in ahard hitting statement heretoday.

Gupta said that with thedefeat staring at him, heappears to be losing his balanceand making rash and illogicalstatements. He appears to beday dreaming when he saysthat NC will repeat its perform-ance of 1977. He forgets thathis Party's vote share hasreduced in every election since1977. It is beyond the imagina-tion of a sensible person tounderstand his weird logic.

He said that BJP's stand ofdynastic rule has been acceptedby Omar Abdullah in declaringthat Sheikh Abdullah owns theState and Omar is naturalinheritor of it. This statementof Omar Abdullah shows thathow much he is influencedwith dynastic rule and lives in amisconception that J&Kbelongs to his grandfather.National Conference alwaysconsidered J&K as its personalasset and it reflects from thestatement of Omar Abdullahbut J&K does not belong to aparticular party or person but tothe respected citizens of thestate, he added.

JAMMU, Dec 8: PeoplesDemocratic Party (PDP) candi-date from Marh Assembly con-stituency, Suram Singh Chibtoday asked the people to votefor PDP to end misrule and cor-ruption in the State.

Addressing largely attendedpublic meeting at camp GolGujral of Marh Constituency,Suram said three years rule ofPDP led by Mufti MohammedSayeed had infused a sense ofsecurity among the people inthe State as after a long time itappeared that the democraticinstitutions got strengthened inJ&K.

He said in last six years ofNC-Congress rule the basicinstitutions of democracy likePanchayats and Municipalcouncils' importance wasundermined and for over last sixyears no elections were held tomunicipalities, municipal cor-porations and TACs. Thisshows that both NC andCongress do not believe intransformation of power to peo-ple's doorsteps and strengthen-ing the basic institutions ofdemocracy, he added.

He promised that if voted topower he will not leave a stoneunturned to develop constituen-cy at modern lines.

JAMMU, Dec 8: One per-son died and another seriouslyinjured in Tali more area whenthey were coming from R S Purato Jammu on scooter, fallingunder the jurisdiction of MiranSahib Police Station, today.

According to police, an un-known bike hit the scooter frombehind resulting the dead ofTarseem Lal resident of KhanaCheck and seriously injuringHead Constable Jagbir Singh,who was later hospitalized atGovernment Medical Collegeand Hospital, Jammu for treat-ment. Other injured died on theway to hospital.

Meanwhile, Police has reg-istered the case under relevantSection for further action.
