DESCRIPTION
HolographyTRANSCRIPT
HolographyHolography is a technique that allows the light scattered from an
object to be recorded and later reconstructed.
It is an advanced form of photography that allows an image to be
recorded in three dimensions.
The technique to optically store, retrieve, and process information.
Preserve the 3-D information of a holographed subject
Holographic Characteristics• A high resolution three
dimensional recording of an object
• Glasses free 3D display
• No need for projection screen
• Life like images
• Interactive display
HistoryDennis Gabor - Father of Holography and Holographic Technologies
1947: Dennis Gabor developed the theory of holography
Dennis wrote a paper in 1948 that has become the foundation of modern Holography.
The most interesting thing about all this is that laser light had not even been invented yet, when he wrote his paper
Cont.…• 1983: Master-card became the first credit card which used the
hologram
• 2009: Interactive holographic display has been developed
• 2010: Development of first moving 3-D hologram.
How Hologram WorksThe time-varying light field of a scene with all its physical
properties is to be recorded and then regenerated. Hence the working of holography is divided into two
phases:RecordingReconstruction
Principle
Holography is a two-step process.
First step is the recording of
hologram where the object is transformed
into a photographic
record.
The second step is the
reconstruction in which the hologram is transformed
into the image.
Types of HologramA.Reflex hologram
• Illuminated by a spot of white incandescent light source, from front-above• The image consists of light reflected by the hologram• Produces multicolor holograms, makes images optically
indistinguishable from the original objects
B. Transmission hologram Viewed with laser light, usually of the same type used to make the
recording Need light source behind them Virtual image can be very sharp and deep
C. Computer-generated holograms No need for a real object Interference pattern is calculated digitally, using algorithms

PRODUCT LAUNCH USING HOLOGRAPHY
BMS and Pfizer wanted maximum impact for the launch of their major new medicine for the treatment of strokes.
So they created ‘the 3D experience’ exhibition stand that features holographic content designed to showcase the new drug and its benefits.
It certainly created a buzz at the world heart federation 2014 conference

Advantages• Cost effective
• Higher storage capacity
• Increased feasibility of objects (depth)
• Enables the achievement of multiple images on a single plate and 3D images
• Ability to combine with other technologies
Disadvantages• Provide static images
• Do not produce images of complex movement
• Require complicated precise machinery to produce and view an image
• Low axial resolution of inline holography
• Reference illumination beams are collinear.
