air competitions are given to 1st and 2nd prizewinners in the 12 - 15 and15 - 18 age groups in the following competitions: fiddle, concert flute,2-row accordion, whistle, uilleann pipes, concertina, piano accordion,harp, banjo and traditional singing in Irish and English. Scholarships arealso given to five qualifiers in each of the 11-13, 13-15, 15-18 agegroups in Comhrá Gaeilge. Scholarships are not transferable betweencategories or persons. Where a person is successful in more than one cat-egory, only one can be chosen when applying.

Scoil Éigse also caters for Non-scholarship applicants. Graded classesare offered in fiddle, flute, whistle, button-accordion, piano accordion,concertina, banjo, harp, uilleann-pipes, piano-accompaniment, tradition-al singing, amhránaíocht, Comhrá Gaeilge, dancing and a mixed instru-ment class for adults.

Every effort will be made to facilitatethose involved in more than one competition, provided they liaise withthe Call Steward at the venues concerned.2. If competitors are competing in more than one competition, theyshould advise each call steward in writing by outlining the precisedetails of the time, number, etc. of the competitions they are involvedin. Advice Slips are available for this purpose at venues3 All dancers’ names, as received, are listed on Souvenir Clár. Anychanges must be notified to the Call Steward/Clerk at the venue beforeteam performance.The Call Steward shall terminate a competition after the completion ofthe performance by the last available competitor, unless he/she has beenpreviously notified that the missing competitor is detained while com-peting in another competition, in which case the competition shall beheld open for a maximum of fifteen minutes”. INFORMATION FOR QUALIFIERS:1 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann will be held in Sligo from

August 15th to 17th inc.. Overleaf is the Competition Timetable (Clár Ama).

2 1st, 2nd and possible 3rd prize winners at the 4 Provincial Fleadhannain Ireland, 1st, 2nd and possible 3rd prize winners atthe Province of Britain Fleadh, 1st, 2nd and possible 3rd prize winners at the Mid-West and Mid Atlantic Fleadhanna in the USA, plus last year’s All-Ireland winners in Grade “D” (only) qualify to compete. (see Fleadh rules)

****************************************************Scoil Éigse

Scoil Éigse, CCÉ’s annual international summer school takes place inSligo, August 10th to 14th. Students of all ages register for the vari-ous instrumental music, singing, dancing and Irish language classes.Classes boast a low pupil-tutor ratio and are lead by a team of inter-national tutors who are also master performers. These tutors haveproven track records and they bring a wealth of performance andteaching experience to Scoil Éigse, reflecting the underlying educa-tional philosophy of CCÉ. Registration also includes attendance atafternoon recitals, Club Éigse in the evening and the closing tutorconcert - space permitting other family members are welcome toattend.

Scholarships to the Scoil Éigse for both main competitions and slow
