If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, experience game viewing by canoe. And if you just want to chill, enjoy a lazy trip through the Storms River Gorge on a lilo inflatable raft. DIVING The rich marine life of Plett makes for excellent diving and snorkelling. A popular and easy snorkelling trail has been laid out in the sea in the Tsitsikamma National Park, set up to protect the unique coastal environment where cold and warm currents meet and mingle to create an immensely rich variety of underwater species, Tsitsikamma National Park lies 55 km / 50 minutes from Plett Central. GAME VIEWING Experience South Africa’s magical creatures in an area offering game viewing on horseback for an “off the beaten track” experience, viewing with traditional 4x4 game drives and a unique opportunity to enjoy the animals by canoe. Plett is home to the largest game reserve in the Southern Cape with 2200 hectares of wilderness, including beautiful mountains along the pristine coastline. Animals you may experience include hippo, giraffe, lion, rhino, buffalo and crocodiles, as well as a number of different species of game and up to 200 bird species. HIKING Plett is surrounded by nature reserves and National Parks – which is perfect, because it means you’ll find many well-maintained hikes and short walks in the area: • The Robberg Nature Reserve is by far our most popular walking destination, with three trails to choose from – ranging from 45 minutes to 5 hours (9,2 km) in length. Guided tours are also available (Robberg: 10 km / 10 minutes from Plett Central) • Other walks include Kranshoek, Garden of Eden, Nature’s Valley, Wittedrift, Milkwood Trail (all within 20 km of Plett Central) and the various trails in the Tsitsikamma National Park (55 km from Plett Central) HORSE RIDING Forest outrides and horse trails are available (most stables are 15 km / 15 minutes from Plett Central). Horses are not permitted on beaches in Plett. MARINE SAFARIS & BOAT CRUISES There are two marine safari companies operating from Central Beach – four times per day, seven days a week (depending on sea and weather conditions). There is also an adrenaline boat cruise as well as the option to dive with the seals.
