1. I won the Heisman Trophy but never played professionally.

2. I was the youngest of 13 children. I founded the only California town to be founded, financed and

governed by African Americans.

3. Most of the time I’m feeling good but strange fruit makes me sick.

4. I created a super way to keep cool in the summer.

5. Born in a Metropolis, I founded by own film and book company, producing and directing over 40 films.

7. I almost drowned in a pool as a child, but at the 2012 Summer Olympics, I won silver medals in the 4x100-

meter freestyle relay and the 50-meter freestyle.

8. Though self-taught, I helped design plans for the nation’s capitol, designed clocks, and developed detailed

almanacs.

9. Before I directed the movie Shaft, I was already a prominent photographer.

10. I have 19 Grammies but I don’t sing tenor or alto.

11. If you’ve ever played a video game, you have me to thank. I built the first cartridge video game system.

13. I spearheaded the March on Washington and organized the first black labor union.

14. Black History Month would not exist without me.

15. I run a company who’s name is shorter version of the word, Xerography, meaning "dry writing"

16. In 1980 and 1984, I ran for Vice-President of the United States under the Communist Party

17. I am a black billionaire before Oprah or Bob Johnson.

18. My invention of a gas mask became known nationally when I and three other men used it to save several

men after a 1916 tunnel explosion under Lake Erie.

19. I was the first Black woman to travel in space.

20. Tyra Banks discovers the next top model, but I have appeared on more than 500 magazine cover—the first

black model on the cover of Vogue, in fact.

21. I’m a doctor. I developed methods for successful blood transfusion but died when I couldn’t receive one

myself.

22. I went from senior class president to president of a Fortune 500 company. My American Express card has

no limit….

23. I was the first African American woman to serve in the United States Cabinet

24. I am an artist famous for expressionism and folk art like my rendition of these musicians playing in the

street.

25. I was the first black person to win a Pulitzer prize in poetry.

26. I broke the color barrier in the sport of tennis.
