“What happens when video games meet web 2.0? • When Virtual worlds meet geospatial maps of the planet? • When simulations get real and life and business go virtual?
•When you use a virtual Earth to navigate the physical Earth, and your avatar becomes your online agent? • What happens is the Metaverse.”

Two New Digital Divides
Temporal Spatial
Web becoming a 3 dimensional socialneighborhood to wander around in“Stephensonian” Cyberspace, no longer just a collection of 2D web pages to shuffle through
The rate of change of information is increasing in true singularity style. Forcing the rate of consumption of information up as well. Resulting in the time interval of interaction growing shorter and shorter.
Having to do less with demographics and more with the ability to adapt to change

From the Web to the Stream
The Stream is the new experience of the internet from a web of relatively static data to a constantly changing stream of information.
“The mainstream adoption of Web 2.0 technologies – from RSS feeds to social networks – is hastening the demise of the portal. With each new face on Facebook, and each new Twitter account, our once routine habits and traffic patterns shift. This wave of change in the way we consume, transact and interact on the Web is dis-intermediating ‘destination’ sites of all kinds. Our once centralized content has been atomized.
And yet our fundamental problem persists. We’re overwhelmed with input, yet still can’t find the one thing we need… now. Tom Tague, Reuters Open Calais

“We are beginning to see a new interaction paradigm for the web: the Virtual Personal Assistant (VPA). A VPA is task focused: it helps you get things done. You interact with it in natural language, in a conversation. It gets to know you, acts on your behalf, and gets better with time.”
