1995 Study initiated by global strategic consultancy McKinsey
- commissioned by the Federal Government
The findings has led to the opening of an IT-themed city called Cyberjaya which
aspires to be "The Silicon Valley of Malaysia"
1997 Ground Breaking Ceremony initiated by Tun Dr.
Mohammed, the 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia
As part of initial registration of interest exercise prior to the Official Launching
Ceremony
1998 Post-ground Breaking Ceremony 192 companies had received MSC-status and confirmed participation in Cyberjaya.
Of these, 50 companies are in the process of setting up their facility in Cyberjaya
1st resort was completed - Cyberview Lodge, Resort &
Spa which took only 100 days to complete from the date
of construction starts
Fast construction period due to The 10th APEC Summit which was scheduled to take
place at the Cyberview Lodge, Resort and Spa
1999 Officially launched by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammed
Setia Haruman, the master developer of Cyberjaya has setup the City Command
Centre (CCC) to monitor the development progress of Cyberjaya
1st MSC-status company was officially launched by Tun
Mahathir - NTT MSC Sdn.Bhd, an NTT Communications
Company
Opening of NTT MSC - NTT's second largest R&D centre outside Japan is testimony of
the confidence it has in Cyberjaya
1st Commercial Development was officially completed –
Century Square by Setia Haruman
The facility was constructed during post-ground breaking ceremony to cater to the
newly set up MSC-status companies especially to entry-level companies
1st Higher Learning Institution was officially opened –
Multimedia University
The facility is expected to attract approximately 8,000 students capacity to further
increased the Cyberjaya population
1st Residential Development was launched – Cyberia
Smarthomes
1,188 units of condominiums and 372 units of townvilla with built-up from 1,024 sf
onwards. To cater to the growing demand from foreign student population,
expatriates and working population in cyberjaya.
2002 Official launch of DHL Asia Pacific Information Service
centre and Shell Information Technology International
centre
Opening of both centres create almost 1,000 working opportunities in Cyberjaya
2003 1st Elite Government secondary boarding school for girls
was opened - Sekolah Seri Puteri
Relocated from old facility in Jalan Kolam Ayer, Kuala Lumpur to new and modern
facility in Cyberjaya will be able to accomodate 1,200 students capacity
2004 1st Government co-ed primary and secondary schools were officially opened – Sekolah Kebangsaan
Cyberjaya and Sekolah Menengah Cyberjaya
As the number of in-migration increases due to the blooming business activities,
there is a need to provide public schools. The first intake was only 30 students & 13
teachers for the primary school. Meanwhile, the secondary school with 4 students
& 21 teachers
Opening of HSBC Data Processing Centre
Opening of this facility creates another 550 working opportunities in Cyberjaya
2005 Opening of another two higher learning institutions – Lim
Kok Wing University and Cyberjaya University College of
Medical Sciences (CUCMS)
The facility is expected to attract approximately 9,500 students capacity to further
increased the Cyberjaya population
2006 Official Launch of DHL Information Technology Service
Centre
Opening of this facility creates another 600 working opportunities in Cyberjaya
2007 Launching of Cyberjaya’s Dedicated Transportation
System (DTS)
DTS had its trial run exercise since 2006 using a total fleet of 53 buses routing in
7 different routes, total no of regular passengers captured was 2,260 during the
period. As a result, DTS was launched in 2007.
2008 Opening of Majlis Perbandaran Sepang
(Relocated from Salak Tinggi)
Relocated to Cyberjaya from Salak Tinggi facility to ease businesses within District of
Sepang in terms of business licence application & renewal process etc
2009 1st Serviced Apartment was officially completed – The
Domain by Emkay
Based on observation, the developer initiated the "rush" to develop exclusive
serviced apartment to cater to foreign students, young executives and expatriates.
1st landed residential development officially completed
- The Serenity Garden Homes by Setia Haruman
42 units of terrace house with built-up area of 2,198 – 2,657 sf. To cater for the
growing demand from family and working population in the vicinity and creating
variety of residential property types in Cyberjaya.
2010 1st International School was officially opened – ELC
International School
Main objective is to cater the learning needs of the children of expatriates working in
Cyberjaya
Cyberjaya's development began to be driven by private
investments
More reputable private developers entering Cyberjaya property market - UEM
Sunrise, SP Setia, Mah Sing and MCT Consortium. Prior to 2010 (between 1997 to
2009), the developments were driven by public investments and master developer-
related companies.
2011 2nd largest of six global Business Process Outsourcing
(BPO) facility was officially opened - Shell Business
Service Centre
An extended facility that was initially built for IT Services in 2002 creating more
employment opportunities and establishing yet another MNC company's facility in
Cyberjaya
2012 Opening of Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN)
building
Opening of LHDN Building will house more civil servants to further increase the
Cyberjaya's working population
2013 Announcement of Cyberjaya's PR1MA housing by
Cyberview Sdn. Bhd & Gadang Holdings Bhd JV 794 units of affordable apartment are expected to be up for sale phase by phase by
4Q2014 as part of an RM1b project to construct 2,500 units including two-storey link
houses, government quarters and a 2.44ha commercial plot.
Announcement of Cyberjaya Mosque and Cyberjaya
City Centre (CCC) projects
The Cyberjaya Mosque is expected to be completed in 2016 that would be
able to accommodate 8,500 worshippers. The planned CCC by Setia Haruman will
comprise of commercial, residential and corporate office components to further
establish the city
2014 1st big-scale shopping mall was officially completed –
D’Pulze Cyberjaya by D’Pulze Ventures
Due to limited no of hotel rooms available in the vicinity, the opening of D'Pulze
Cyberjaya that has hotel component will be able to attract more business tourists to
stay in Cyberjaya. The development also has a retail mall that offers leisure and
entertainment
2015 - 2020 MRT Station in Putrajaya Sentral is in planning stage It is proposed that the station will be connected to Cyberjaya City Centre (CCC) via
a 400 metre walkalator
Maju Expressway (MEX) Phase 2 is in planning stage The proposed 18km extension connecting Cyberjaya/Putrajaya Interchange directly
to KLIA/KLIA2 which would further improve the connectivity from Kuala Lumpur City
to KLIA/KLIA2
Expected completion and opening of another three
higher learning institutions – SeGi College, Royal Islamic
University of Malaysia and Open University
As part of the Cyberview's strategic initiative to further increase Cyberjaya
population that will translates to better property demand
