The Amherst Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session at Souhegan High School on Mon-day, August 27, 2012, from 8:00 a.m.- 12noon and 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. during school regis-tration. New voter registrations and additions and corrections to the checklist may be made at this time. If you are already registered, party affiliations may not be changed at this session. Democrats Town Committee Board Meeting
The Amherst Democrats Town Committee will hold its next Board Meeting on Thursday eve-ning, August 9, 2012 at the Amherst Town Library (downstairs) from 7 - 8:30 PM. The meeting is open to all Registered Democrats.
“Four Family” by Bill Tyers
AMHERST – Now through August, The Friends of the Library will be exhib-iting Bill Tyers beautiful oil and pastel paintings at the Amherst Town Library. Bill resides in Milford and has studios; in Wilton at the Riverview Mill and in Low-ell MA at Western Avenue Studios.
His work has been shown at several galleries includ-ing The Sharon Arts Center in Peterborough NH, The Sage Gallery in Manchester NH, The Whistler House and Loading Dock galleries in Lowell MA. Bill has also illustrated four book covers for Plaidswede Publishing in Concord.

2012 Amherst Citizen of the Year
The Amherst Lions Club awarded the 38th Amherst Citizen of the Year to May Balsama. The award was presented at the Fourth of July celebration on the Common following the parade. May, a long time resident of Amherst, was recog-nized for her good citizenship, volunteerism, participation, concern and actions to help make Amherst a great commu-nity to live in. Presently, she is the executive director of the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce.

2012 Toyota Prius Car Raffle Benefits Historic Meeting House of Amherst
AMHERST – Congratu-lations to Jean Tonnesen! Jean won a silver 2012 Toy-ota Prius, valued at $25,000, in the car raffle benefiting the Historic Meeting House of Amherst. Town Clerk Nancy Demers pulled the winning ticket at the raffle, which was held July 14th at the Congregational Church of Amherst. Jean has been an active member of the Congregational Church of Amherst for more than 40 years, in the Women’s As-sociation, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Congregational Care Team, Memorial Gifts Committee, and Church Council.
