BriefTo design a collection based on my experiences of the nature of the

South Island of New Zealand for the Bluecoat Display Centre and

craft gallery market.craft gallery market.

Provide a range of jewellery;; earrings, rings necklaces in gold and

silver and some semi-­preccious stones, with material costs of up

to £40, with gallery costs in mind of approximately double, around

£80

Allow people to experience the natural environment of New Zealand

through the jewellery, discovering new and interesting sea shells,

Present a mixture of 12 items in craft galleries across the UK.

DesignI used natural materials brought back from my travels in New Zealand

and my new skills in lost wax casting to produce the collections. I carved

some items in wax and for other items I pressed interesting textures

into the wax, others were produced using casts from cold moulds of theinto the wax, others were produced using casts from cold moulds of the

natural objects.

I provided different sized items from tiny earrings to larger chunky

pieces, to create a scale of price range.

DesignI sketched and studied scenes in my natural environment that had an impact on me in beauty, such as a violet flower. I set about recreating the violet with rich,purple, amethyst, pear shape, petal, gems and provided a contrasting colour such as yellow sapphire flower centre or white diamond centre.

For a Fall Winter collection, when a yeti style was in for fashion, I produced a winter ice collection ‘Snow Queen’ with pink quartz and pave diamonds inspired by a snow scene and also combinedthe collection with blue topaz with scene of a tranquil, blue lagoon in mind.

I provided a price range of £200 to £2800 so that were would be choice.
