Within these modules I have learnt many practical skills such as; how to take blood pressure, blood samples, ECG's and conduct fitness tests. I have also learnt how to risk stratify and health assess patients. I have also recently finished conducting my own research in the laboratory, focusing on sports nutrition for my dissertation. This has helped me become more independent and competent within a laboratory setting and using complex equipment.

Work Experience

Cardiac Department ● Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham ● 40 hour placement, 2015

Over Easter 2015, I completed a 40 hour placement shadowing a cardiac physiologist and other members of the cardiology department, ranging from ECG technicians to consultants. I observed the majority of departments within cardiology; ECG analysis, fitness testing, clinics (pacing & genetic) and I also witnessed key hole surgery. I was able to enhance my patient communication skills, and experience work within a clinical setting, which were 2 aspects I thoroughly enjoyed.
