4. CURRICULAR & EXTRA-CURRICULAR

4.1 Teachingi) M.Sc. Program: I have been teaching various courses since I joined the

college. The courses include Nuclear Physics, Electromagnetic theory,

Computer organisation and architecture, Lasers, Optical Communication,

Radar, Mechanics, Communication Electronics, Non-linear dynamics. I

supervise three students in each year for their final year project, which is a

part of curriculum.

ii) B. Sc. Program: The graduate classes I teach include core courses and open

course. The core courses include Mechanics, Electricity, Electronics, Optics,

Lasers, Electromagnetic theory, Communication Electronics and Astrophysics

and Astronomy (open course). I have coordinated the graduate course in

several years since I joined the college in1993 including the current year.

4.2 Managementi) At present I am the Dean of Science, Fatima Mata National College

(autonomous), Kollam, Kerala. I am taking care of academic affairs of the

student and teachers of all the six science departments of the college.

ii) Secretary of the Academic Council (Apex Academic body) of the Fatima

Mata National College (autonomous), Kollam, Kerala

iii) Chairman of board of examiners for M Sc Physics (S2) November-December

2014, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram

iv) Since June 2012, I am Coordinating all the First Degree Programs ( 4

Bachelor of Arts Programs, 6 Bachelor of Sciences Programs and one

Bachelor of Commerce Program) conducted by the University of Kerala in the

college. Registrations, Internal assessments, internal marks and etc are

supervised and coordinated by me.

4.3 Curriculum Development

i) I have developed the curricula for three add on courses ran by the department

of physics, sponsored by the University Grants Commission, Delhi. The

courses are: certificate course in electronics, Diploma course in

Instrument Maintenance and Advanced Diploma Course in Electronics

and Electrical equipments. The college conducted this program successfully

for five years.

ii) I have formulated course works for Ph D in the University of Kerala,

Trivandrum and Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.

iii) Being the Post graduate Board of Studies Member of the University of Kerala,

at present, I have taken active role in the revision of two courses (PH 242

Nuclear Physics and PH 232 Communication Electronics).

iv) I have developed course material for two modules (Ionizing Radiations and

Non-ionizing Radiations) for Certified Industrial Hygienist, USA.

v) I was a member of the syllabus revision committee for State Level Eligibility

Test (SET) being conducted by LBS.

4.4 Project Supervision

i) Since 1993, I am supervising three Postgraduate projects of our own

institution and one or two external students annually. Some of the projects

were published in journals.

ii) Five or six graduate students are supervised annually for their project work in

the curriculum since 1993.

iii) I have worked as a Visiting Faculty in University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur

during June 2012 and June 2011. I have successfully supervised a student for

Master’s Degree through research.

iv) I have also guided a student from IISER, Trivandrum for his summer project

during his graduate program.
