P u b l i c a t i o n s Sustainable Indicators for Cities: an interdiscipl inary perspective
Unpublished Masters of Science Thesis w. Dr. Jul ia Will iams Robinson Spring 2010 Applies practices from sociology, business, and architecture to redesign the framework for city sustainability indicators. Also examines several existing methods for city evaluations.
Ecological Footprint for the Twin Cities Pending publication Spring 2010 Investigation of current methods for ecological footprint of cities, including literature review of accounting methods as well as case studies of cities with completed footprints. Application of the methods to an ecological footprint of the Twin Cities, Minnesota.
Systems Thinking in the Solar Decathlon Project
THere Journal of Design Winter Issue 2009 Discussion of the design of the process of the University of Minnesota’s 2009 Solar Decathlon entry, the ICON Solar House. Covering the issues of integrated design from conceptual to construction phases, and the implications of a volunteer‐based design‐build project, and the contraints of the competition.
The Integral Capital City Unpublished Masters of Arch Thesis w. W. Conway, J . Robinson, L. Neckar Spring 2008 Investigates the dual conditions of national and local identity in capital cities. The research supports a design intervention on a neighborhood where forces such as interstate freeways and urban renewal have deteriorated its ability to effectively support national and local identities.
Democracy in the Everyday THere Journal of Design Spring Issue 2007 Article describing a graduate studio design project, Hospice in an Urban Environment, and how it embodies design democracy in its unique approach to the everyday. Feature for the Design Democracy Fellowship Award in 2007.
