over IP solutions.

Cuyahoga County’s Division of Witness Victim Services provides a range of supportive services for victims of violent crime. Available services include:

• Children Who Witness Violence

o Deploys trained crisis worker to crime scene involving child witness

Overview

- Nailah K. Byrd serves as the appointed Clerk of Courts for Cuyahoga County.

- The Clerk of Courts performs all statutory duties relative to the filing, preservation, retrieval

and public dissemination of court documents and records pertaining to the Cuyahoga

County Court of Common Pleas, Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court, and the 8th

District Court of Appeals. The office also collects, holds, and disburses fees and costs paid to

the court in a secure, timely and cost effective manner.

- Standard hours of operation are 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. The agency is

also open for bond processing functions from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM on Saturdays.

• Civil Filings - Civil function areas are located on the 1st floor of the Justice Center.

- The Civil Division’s responsibilities include filing new complaints, replevins, cognovits, special

dockets, motions, pleadings, service instructions and CVPO’s; issuance of Civil Stalking

Protection Orders; E-Filing; service/summons; journalization; collecting Child Support

Payments; processing Passport Applications; certified copies; order of sales; confirmation of

sales; forfeitures; and acceptance of Notice of Appeals.

• Criminal Filings - Criminal function areas are located on the 2nd floor of the Justice Center.

- Responsibilities include arraignment functions, criminal case initiation, and processing

bonds.

• Finance Department - Finance function areas are located on the 1st floor of the Justice Center.

- Responsibilities include accounting for all funds deposited with the Clerk of Courts through

bonds, court costs, fines, and fees. Also the department disburses funds on deposit to the

appropriate parties at the end of a case; bills for any costs owed; and files and records

garnishments and judgment liens.

- Responsible for processing divorces, dissolutions, legal separations, annulments, domestic violence, and

child support cases for Cuyahoga County.

- Responsible for the filing of appellate court cases that originate from the Common Pleas Court, Juvenile
