STEM FOCUS WEEK STEM Focus Week was a beehive of exciting educational activities at Edgewood

College.

We had science and maths quizzes, with several practical sessions that brought teaching and learning to life; they included the dissection of a small mammal,

electrical reactions and magnetism, chemical reactions, controlled explosions, robotics, coding and artificial intelligence.

Our children demonstrated their knowledge of STEM by presenting some of the

engaging, practical sessions; they also asked a lot of intelligent questions

about Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM). We thank the science department and our teachers for an exciting STEM Week,

where our children had a glimpse of their future careers in STEM.

Accolades

Students who have exemplified themselves in academics and social activities

across the college received accolade certificates congratulating them for their hard work and excellence.

Edgewood college entrance examination

We had our entrance examination into Year 7 in the 2020/2021 session this

weekend. Our entrance examinations were held in Lagos and Port Harcourt on Saturday.

We congratulate the successful students who have gained admission into

Edgewood College for the 2020/ 2021 session.

Anti-bullying week Anti-Bullying Week happens in schools across Britain each November. As Edgewood College is a British curriculum school, we marked Anti-Bullying

Week with several talks to all students on the effects of bullying.

Our children also had the opportunity to reflect and discuss the impacts of Bullying and why no student at Edgewood College should engage in bullying.

Students also wrote, in one word, the effect of bullying and discussed with the

school management more innovative ways to ensure bullying is stamped out at Edgewood College.

Sports Trial Sports Trial continued this week with all the houses at Edgewood College

preparing and fine-tuning their strategies for our annual sports day.

Health and safety warning Gastroenteritis The Lagos State Government has issued a health awareness warning for

Gastroenteritis which is a contagious inflammation of the intestines that causes diarrhoea, pains, vomiting or fever.

We advise that our parents reinforce the hygiene advice we have given all our

children to wash their hand frequently, especially after using the convenience and especially before and after mealtimes.

Possible Heatwave Warning These are a period of abnormally hot weather temperature like we experienced

last week. We ask our dear parents to reinforce the advice we are giving our children;

which is to ensure our children come to school with their water bottles, drink a lot of water to stay hydrated at all times.

Rock on the musical Students of Edgewood College have been given a corporate discount to see a

professional play which will enhance their knowledge of Drama and Music.

We have been offered N4,000 for the 1pm show and N5,000 for the 4pm and 7pm shows.

We ask our parents interested in our students attending the show to make

payments to the admin office at Edgewood College.

Prayer Hour We meet between 7am, and 8am every Friday to pray for our children and

college. Prayer Hour takes place at Edgewood (Sixth Form) College, Kayode Otitoju Street, Lekki Phase 1.

Keep your gadgets at home…no excuses Please ensure that your child does not bring any gadget

(e.g., mobile phone, tablet PC, laptop, camera, or video game) into the college or bus. Such items will be

confiscated and donated to charity.

Edgewood College and its buses are gadget-free zones.
