Why FSSC?: They had been certified against ISO 22000 before. FSSC 22000 is an attractive scheme for them to use the current management system framework of ISO 22000 to obtain the certification recognized by GFSI.
Driver: They’ve implemented their own management system based on ISO 22000, which incorporates ISO9001 and AIB Food Safety. Customers have demanded them to obtain FSSC 22000 certificate for validating their own system and establishing the quality and safety of their products.
Expected Benefit: They aim to demonstrate the food safety towards customers and end-consumers by introducing FSSC 22000 and obtaining its certificate. Then, they have expected it results in the expansion of sales.

Challenges: It was the biggest challenge for them to understand the requirements of ISO/TS 22000-1 completely, develop the internal criteria which meets the requirements, and penetrate the criteria to the company.
Focal Actions: • Particularly, they’ve focused intensively on the 5S, employee training,
clarification of criteria, equipment improvement at the production site. • Management have been actively-involved in in establishing the management
system and introducing equipment for securing a constant safe supply of foods. • They’ve carried out thoroughly the following for employees.
Training for them to understand what FSSC is, why FSSC needs, and what individual has to do.
Keeping their work place clean and tidy. Repetitive read-through of procedures/criteria.

Positive Result: Hygiene control, 5S and awareness of employees against food safety have been improved certainly. More business benefit like improvement in manufacturing failure rate will been seen.
Advantage in Business: They’ve achieved to retain and expand the order from customers requiring GFSI recognized certification. They’ve gotten an exemption of 2nd party audit from some customers with FSSC22000 certification.
Long-term Benefit: Company’s culture of continual improvement will be built with awareness of employees against strict hygiene control. Consequently, defective product will be reduced, which leads to achievement of safety and security of food.
What’s next: All the production divisions will achieve to the level required by FSSC 22000.

Why FSSC?: They had been certified against ISO 22000 before. FSSC 22000 is attractive scheme for them to use ISO 22000 framework and transfer to a more robust system effectively and effectively.
Driver: Based on the company policy, they decided to introduce FSSC 22000 and design all the facilities and equipment which meet its requirements, when a new plant opened.
Expected Benefit: They aim to achieve improvement in the quality control system. Specifically, the expected benefit is “Risk management of reject product”, “Reduction in customers complaint” and “Clarification in lack of proper process control”. Then, they want to earn credibility on the market for the sanitation and quality control of food.

Challenges: It was the biggest challenge for them to penetrate the concept and required action for FSSC to the organization, because there is lots of employees rotation across the group companies. Understanding the requirements of ISO/TS 22000-1 is also big challenge.
Focal Actions: • Management have seriously considered the investment for introducing new
equipment, recruiting resources and internal training. • They have focused intensively on understanding respective requirement
completely, and conducting gap analysis. • The following have been incorporated into evaluation items for performance
appraisal system of employees in order to motivate employees. Contribution to implementation of FSSC 22000 Skill development required for FSSC 22000

Positive Result: They achieved to drive down claim frequency caused by defect in production process. The awareness of improvement could establish. They’ve received reputation from customers, to which traceability and record control contribute.
Advantage in Business: The experiences and know-how gained from FSSC 22000 implementation is helpful for launching new food business in other group companies.
Long-term Benefit: Company culture of “Delivering safety food leads to gain of customers trust and improvement in a company image” will progress steadily.
What’s next: They plan to introduce FSSC 22000 to other plants when developing and manufacturing a new product.
