Contribution to the University System and Extension Activities

As a teacher of English I have endeavoured through innovative active teaching to introduce

the students to subtleties of literature and the evolution of the English language into a variety of

english‘s, not just in its literary avatar but equally in the functional communicative one.

Unexplored research areas have been my forte with the objective of bringing academic research

in tune with its social relevance.

(4) Preparation and presentation of English language and literature programmes for

school children conducted by the School Broadcast Section of Radio Kashmir,

Jammu. Two programmes were selected for broadcast at the National level, and were

highly appreciated.

(5) Prepared and conducted a series of programmes under the heading ―Pronounce it

Well‖ for the Yuv Vani Section of Radio Kashmir, Jammu.

(6) Delivered several talks in the ―English Talks‖ series of Radio Kashmir, Jammu.

(7) Participated in women-oriented chat shows aired on Doordarshan, Jammu.

(8) Outside the University I have conducted courses on Grammar and Spoken English in

the Institute of Journalism, Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan in 1977-78.

H. Honours:

(1) Nominated for recognition in the Eighth Edition of ―International Who‘s Who of

Professional and Business Women‖, 2000.

(2) Nominated by The American Biographical Institute Board of International Research

for the award of ―Woman of the Year 2000‖ in recognition of my research work in

multi-ethnic literatures.

(3) Awarded Best Teacher in Language/ Literature by the ―Indian International

Friendship Society‖ for the year 2007.
