PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS:

International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association

International Association of Counselors and Therapists

AWARDS AND HONORS:

2011 Detroit Crain’s Healthcare Heroes 2011

Dr. Levine was the recipient of the Corporate Achievement

Award for group programs offered to large self-funding

corporations to provide relief of chronic pain, stress, and

symptoms of stress-related conditions. Levine operates on the

principle that the main way of reducing national healthcare

costs in the long-run is to produce sustained health

improvement. The group programs have demonstrated

improved health that is sustained for up to 16 months after

programs end. See online:

2010 Henry Ford Health System Quality and Safety Expo

Competition Winner for “Stress and Pain Free Living”

programs offered at Chrysler & HFHS employees

Henry Ford Health System recognized the further innovations

brought to the group wellness programs offered by the Center

for Integrative Wellness. New for 2010 were programs offered

at Dow Chemical, Midland and the community program at New

Hope Missionary Baptist Church. The results of these

independent programs were equivalent and equal to the positive

outcomes produced in earlier years (see description below).

This project demonstrated that programs could be effective

when offered outside the Detroit Metro area (Midland) and

when delivered to an African American population in the faith-

based community.

2010 International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association

Outstanding Research Award in the Mind-Body Medicine

Award Presented at the International Medical and Dental

Hypnotherapy Association annual international meeting.

2009 Henry Ford Health System Quality and Safety Expo

for Integrative Wellness. New for 2009 was the tracking of

stress elimination in Chrysler and HFHS employees. Stress

elimination, defined as a score of 0 average stress in the last

week on a 0-10 scale (score of 0 is when more than 95% of the

time is spent free of unhealthy stress reactions), was reported by

14% of participants. Programs were reduced from 24 to 18

contact hours; elimination of chronic pain conditions was

sustained at 45%, and other validated measures were favorably

impacted (disability, stress, and depression were significantly

reduced; sleep quality was significantly improved).

2008 Detroit Crain’s Healthcare Heroes 2008

One of eight awardees in the Southeast Michigan area. Dr.

Levine was the recipient of a Corporate Achievement Award for

the Chrysler “We’ve Got Your Back” program. Chrysler

employees were treated in the workplace in groups of up to 48

people at a time with a hands-off complementary and alternative

medicine approach. After 24 contact hours over 6 months, 55%

of reporting employees eliminated back pain compared with 0%

of untreated, randomized controls. There were also significant

reductions in stress, disability, and depression symptoms, as

well as improvements in sleep quality. See online:

2008 HFHS Quality and Safety Expo Competition Winner for

Chrysler & HFHS Pain Alleviation Program

Henry Ford Health System recognized the quality of the group

pain alleviation programs offered by the Center for Integrative

Wellness. The programs offered under the umbrella of “Pain

Free in 2008” received the award for the positive health

outcomes achieved with employees of Chrysler (“Pain

Free Zone”) and HFHS (“Living a Pain Free Life”). All

musculoskeletal pain conditions were included in the same

group and employees received 24 contact hours over about 7

months; 35% of all chronic pain conditions were eliminated.

There were also significant reductions in stress, disability, and

depression symptoms, as well as improvements in sleep quality.

AWARDS AND HONORS (continued):

2010 International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association

Outstanding Research Award in the Mind-Body Medicine

Award. Presented at the annual meeting of the International

Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association and the

International Association of Counselors and Therapists.

2009 Henry Ford Health System Quality and Safety Expo

Competition Winner for “Stress and Pain Free Living”

programs offered at Chrysler & HFHS employees

Henry Ford Health System recognized the further innovations

brought to the group wellness programs offered by the Center

for Integrative Wellness.

Programs were reduced from 24 to 18

contact hours with no loss of results; elimination of chronic pain

conditions was 45%, and other validated measures were also

favorably impacted (disability, stress, and depression were

significantly reduced; sleep quality was significantly improved).
