PRACTICAL SKILLS
1. Proficient to set up Zebrafish facility for experimentations such as angiogenesis assay and
drug screening: I have worked in the field of zebrafish research for 7 years in Prof. Andrew Miller’s
laboratory in HKUST.
-Attended Neural Development and Genetics of Zebrafish Summer Course, Marine Biological
Laboratory, Massachusetts, USA
-Received laboratory training in setup zebrafish module developing wild-type and mutant embryos,
techniques of nucleic acid injection, gene-mapping, cell transplantation, in situ hybridization, the

labeling of single cells, dissect the zebrafish nervous system, study brain histology, perform behavioral
tests on wild-type and mutant animals, and learn axonal path-finding techniques.
2. Molecular Biology: RNAs Extraction, DNAs Extraction, PCR, real time PCR; Bacterial
Transformation; Cells: Isolation and Culture of many cell lines such as endothelial cells, smooth
muscle cells, human monocytes (THP-1 and U937), PC-12, T lymphocyte cells (Jurkat cells) &
cervical cancer cell (HeLa), human mouse embryonic stem cells; iPSC (induced pluripotent stem cell);
Mammalian Cell Transfection, in vitro Lentivirus Infection, Rhodamin-Phalloidin Staining;
Immunohistochemistry & Histology: Histological and Histochemical Techniques, Paraffin Embedded
Tissue Sections. Protein: Lowry Protein Assay; Western Blotting; Immunostaining and Terminal
deoxynucleotidyl Transferase Biotin-dUTP Nick End Labeling (TUNEL) assay; Flow Cytometry
(Apoptosis & Cell sorting).
3. Animal manipulation: I have extensive experiences in developing animal models for diseases.
Conducted middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO; stroke), renovascular hypertensive rat (RHR),
and ovariectomized (OVX) rat models; acute DSS colitis model (inflammatory bowel diseases),
metabolic diseases model (Diet induced obese model), neonatal maternal separation (NMS) model
(irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Angiotensin II-infused hypertensive model.
