I have worked as part of both large and small commissioning teams. In my role as Shift Manager I liaised with engineers, and contractors and was responsible for the issuing of permits I.e., General, Hot Work, Entry Confined, Excavation, and Radiation Permits. (Nucleonic Sources) I have also been involved in HAZOP studies, and many Health and Safety at work courses, (Some of which are listed below). As well as the operational and commissioning side of the industry, I have also been involved with classroom, and on the job training of trainee, and graded operators, and was also responsible for interviewing and recruitment of new staff. PROFFESIONAL EXPERIENCE June 1991 – Sept 2003Grade 3 Process Operator, progressing to Shift ManagerDegussa SK (Formerly Laporte Industries & Fine Organics Ltd) Seal Sands, Middlesbrough, U.K.

Initially working as a Process Operator on a batch processing plant, setting up and monitoring distillations within reactor columns. Other operations included control room panel work, assisting with plant/process changeover, carrying out analytical work within the lab, and general plant operations gaining a sound knowledge of chemicals, solvents and gases. Progressing to Shift Manager where my responsibilities included the supervision of a 19 man team, ensuring manning levels were correct and Health & Safety regulations were not breached by use of Hazard & Risk Assessments, and permit to Work procedures. Other responsibilities included supervising any outside contractors that may be working on the site at any given time carrying out maintenance or calibration work.

Lead Operator Oct 2003 – Aug 2006AMPCO, Equatorial Guinea.

Working on a Methanol Plant, and carrying out day to day running of the plant, monitoring distillations in the field and control room panel work. Supervising of Field Operations and Contractors using PTW Procedures.

Start-Up Engineer, Area Supervisor, Turnaround/Permit Co-ordinator Dec 2006 – June 2009Dolphin Energy Ltd, Ras Laffan Industrial City, State of Qatar.

Predominantly working outside ensuring that all the instructions for commissioning and startup of all units on the 2.2bef Dolphin Energy gas processing plant were followed and planned goals and objectives were achieved safely and on time. Liaising with numerous vendors and contractors in trouble shooting startup problems. After successful startup of the plant, I was transferred to a small group, of 6 people who prepared and planned all aspects of the warranty shutdown. During the warranty shutdown, I worked as a senior permit controller and area authority, controlling the issuance and preparation of all permits related to the fractionation and LPG treatment units. (Cold, Hot, Naked Flame, Entry Confined, Vehicle Entry, Energy Isolation and High Pressure Leak Testing).

Production Technician Oct 2009 – Nov 2015 Maersk Oil, Janice Alpha FPU Off shore, North Sea.

Employed with Petrofac and then Maersk Oil as a Production Technician, where my duties would include – Isolation of Plant/Equipment for maintenance to be carried out, preparation of all paperwork including PTW, marked-up P&IDs, Method Statements etc., which allow the above to be carried out in a safe manner. I have on numerous occasions acted as Stand-in Lead Technician, due to sickness cover or other, and have also been trained up in the Control Room as cover for the CRO. Other training includes being signed off as a competent Permit Co-ordinator, where I have stood in on many occasions, including the whole of the 2013 Shutdown.

Commissioning Technician Nov 2015 – Aug 2016

Working as part of the Process Commissioning Topsides Team. Carrying out load runs on Various pumps/motor sets using conditioning monitoring equipment, and recording the results.

Designing and applying process/mechanical isolations in accordance with SIRPS and the PTW System. Carrying out inspection, dynamic commissioning and testing of all field equipment, inclusive of pumps, air compressors, gas turbines and valves. Completing ITR check sheets to sign off finished procedures. Carrying out line-walks, identifying boundary isolations, mechanical equipment, and highlighting any anomalies as part of SH1 completions. Also, carrying out leak/hydro testing of various utility systems as part of the above SH1.

Production Technician Aug 2016 – Oct 2016

Maersk Oil UK Gryphon FPSO North Sea

Taken on by AMEC for Maersk, specifically for the 2016 shutdown/start-up. Duties included, DVFP, isolating, and overseeing invasive work/vessel entries on line-work and plant. Assisting with de-isolating and start-up of plant, inclusive of plant/equipment line-walks and valve line-ups prior to plant start-up.
