Director, Liberal Arts and Sciences Institute for Research and Community Service, Rowan University (1999-Present)

The primary responsibilities of the Director of the LA&S Institute include: fiscal/budgetary responsibilities, program management, liaison between the 15 academic departments in the college of LA&S (165 faculty), intra-college liaison among faculty and deans, supervisory and evaluation of office and support staff, supervisory and evaluation of research assistants, program development (including co-principle and principle investigations), which includes the implementation of a viable community service and extension program, and seek external funding opportunities that assist faculty in the college to meet their research goals. The Institute is divided into four administrative units: The Center for Addiction Studies, The Project for Human Services, NJSSI/Project SMART for the Mathematics and Sciences, and the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Development. Moreover, the function of this office is to link the academic departments in the College of LAS to external entities including government agencies, corporate sponsors, and local/regional/national foundations such as the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation.

Administrative Accomplishments Presided over the Establishment of a Grant-funded Community Clinic (2000)---Tobacco Dependence Clinic (The RU Center for Addiction Studies–LA&S Inst.) Under the direction of Dr. L. Jeffrey and Mrs. P. Negro, the LAS Institute created a behavioral assessment clinic to serve the needs of Rowan University and local community residents by providing clinical intervention for tobacco dependence related issues. The clinic is located on High Street in downtown Glassboro, New Jersey. (1999)---Creation of and Current Coordinator of the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Development (LA&S Inst.) The primary role of the coordinator of the Continuing Education and Professional Development Unit, within the LA&S Institute, is to negotiate contracts on behalf of the university with external community clientele to provide academic courses (graduate and undergraduate) and continuing education units for government and professional organizations.
