5.1 Use of different brands of Oral Furosemide in patients with Congestive Cardiac Failure.

5.2 Study of endotracheal route of drug administration during resuscitation after

cardiac arrest. TJ Mariba, J Davis, C Studd, C Perez-Avila, J Cook, R Vincent & D A Chamberlain (Julie Davis used this study from the MSc Degree).

5.3 MD Project : The role of acute phase proteins in diagnosis & assessment of

therapeutic response in infective Endocarditis (abandoned when I left MEDUNSA. Data was collected). Supervisor emigrated to US without informing me.

5.4 Joint Project of Departments of Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery: Evaluation of

Stentless Atrio Ventricular Valve in Sheep.

7.5 14-16 October 2004 Invited as President of IAMRA and Chairperson of the Medical and Dental Professions Board of the HPCSA by the Australian Medical Council to a conference of the Medical Boards/Councils of the Australian states and New Zealand titled “Towards 2010 – Doctors and the Community” to give an address on “Challenges in International Medical Regulation”.

7.6 22-24 October 2004 Invited as Chairperson of the Medical and Dental Professions Board of the HPCSA by Botswana Medical Association to the 35th Annual Congress 2004 on “Management of Infectious Diseases”. Presented a paper on “Health Manpower Development – Challenges in Specialist Capacity Building in Developing Countries”.

7.7 05-08 December 2004 Attended first CEOM/IAMRA’s meeting in France, Paris as Chairman of IAMRA together with IAMRA’s Management Committee to exchange views on the objectives shared by both organisations, particularly that of patient protection and the quality of medical acts. Gave a talk on the establishment and role of IAMRA as a medical regulatory authority body.
