BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Math District Wide Professional Development Workshop for K-1 teachers supporting students’ place value understanding with an emphasis on fluency with ten-structured addition/subtraction solution methods on February 2, 2018; cost not to exceed $1,275.00. BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Danielson’s Framework for Teaching District Wide Professional Development Workshop. C. Proposal for Basketball Spotlight LLC/Michael Melton
BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves Basketball Spotlight LLC/Michael Melton. Basketball Spotlight provides middle school boys with a platform to show their basketball talent. Eight teams comprised of middle school male basketball players will participate in single game elimination tournament. Participants will have to arrive an hour before their game to attend a lecture. January 6 thru 7, 2018; no cost to the Board.

BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools approves Jubilee Children's Entertainment at Mott Elementary School to provide workshops and assemblies to empower students with behavioral support while inspiring, developing, and motivating students and educators from December 19, 2017 through June 30, 2018; cost not to exceed $1,750.00. BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools approves the Extended After School Intervention Program for Franklin School to provide students with time to reflect on choices they make that lead to a detention and to help support them with decision making, and learning the consequences once they have violated the Code of Conduct regulations. BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools approves Franklin School Career Day to provide students with the ability to build relationships and be encouraged to think about their future. Students will be able to engage in meaningful conversations with community members and relate to their career endeavors on January 17, 2018; no cost to the Board.

BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent
of Schools approves P.J. Hill Elementary School and Fernbrook Farms Environmental Education Center
with support from the Bonner Center for Civic and Community Engagement to provide students with
experiential hands on learning activities. The unit of study will occur on April 9 and 10, 2018 at P.J. Hill
culminating with a field trip at Fernbrook Farms on April 13, 2018; no cost to the Board.
K. A Proposal for Mott Elementary School and PHI BETA SIGMA ADOPT A SCHOOL
PROGRAM
BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent
of Schools approves Mott Elementary School and PHI BETA SIGMA ADOPT A SCHOOL PROGRAM to
provide students with various academic and social enrichment programs such as spelling bees, essay
contests, math challenges and STEM projects. January 3, 2018 through June 21, 2018; no cost to the
Board.
L. A Proposal for Hedgepeth/Williams Middle School and Heavy Sketches – Red’s Reading
Revolution
BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent
of Schools approves Hedgepeth/Williams Middle School and Heavy Sketches – Red’s Reading
Revolution to implement a program that combines art with note taking. Students will create their own
sketch note inspired writings. January 23 and 24, 2018; cost not to exceed: $1,200.00. GAAP code: 15-

M. A Proposal for Hedgepeth/Williams Middle School and My Life Movement
BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools approves Hedgepeth/Williams Middle School and My Life Movement to provide a 10week mentoring program which will allow Trenton police department to engage with 9 adolescents to promote positivity through communication and engagement with law enforcement officials and non-profit organizations within the community. A Proposal for a Partnership Between Hedgepeth/Williams Middle School and Metropolitan Opera Guild- REVISED (decrease cost), APPROVED OCTOBER 16, 2017 BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves a Partnership between Hedgepeth/Williams Middle School and the Metropolitan Opera Guild to implement an Arts Integration Program. The teaching through Opera program will show students how to use the elements of opera, libretto-writing, music composition and theatrical staging. Students will present their own musical drama. January 2018 through June 2018. Cost not to exceed $3,916.64. GAAP Code: 15-190-100-320-0000-00-08.
O. A Proposal for Poetry Inspiration with Poet Laureate at Dunn MS – REVISED (dates), APPROVED OCTOBER 16, 2017 BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools approves Poetry Inspiration with Poet Laureate – Tracy K. Smith at Dunn Middle School to provide students in grade 7, the experience of reading and writing various types of poetry and explore the power of words and discuss their connections to the poems. In the NJ Student Learning Standards students are required to analyze poetry as a form of reading literature. February 22, 2018; no cost to the Board.

learn to use dissecting equipment to assist them in understanding biological systems of organisms.
Students will learn through dissecting, how the physiological components of a cow’s eye function

S. A Proposal for Rivera Community Middle School Parent Health Program BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves Rivera Community Middle School to partner with Parents as champions for school health. Empower Family Success will hold 5 workshops that will educate parents on the importance of health and healthy living. Parents will receive a $100.00 stipend after completing all five sessions. No cost to the Board.

A Proposal for Trenton Central High School Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. – Community Urban Gardening Project BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves Trenton Central High School Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. – Community Urban Gardening Project. The program shall endeavor to work together with TCHS staff to develop and establish policies and procedures that will promote and sustain a market for urban organic farming. Students will grow sustainable foods to revitalize the Battle Monument neighborhood. The mission is to foster a future generation of environmental leaders. Resolution to Approve Washington Elementary School Professional Educational Services for Digital Learning, Grades 3,4,5 BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approves Houghton Mifflin Harcourt consultants to provide a full day program visiting classrooms working with students and supported by their teachers with guided practice and cooperative exploration reading strategies using a digital format. X. A Proposal for Fundations Early Intervention Program – REVISED (program name/vendor name), APPROVED NOVEMBER 13, 2017 BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves Fundations Early Intervention Program (Wilson Language Training Corporation) to serve grades K-1 students at MLK and Parker Elementary School. Students will receive literacy interventions which will directly affect and reduce the referral rate to special services.
