Preferred mechanical pencil but must have lead.

Calculator-write your first and last name on it

One subject spiral notebook (college ruled preferred)

2-2 pocket plastic folders Pencils with Erasers Handheld pencil sharpener Blue or Black Pens Red Grading Pens 2 packages of Index Cards 3x 5 2 composition notebooks

Supplies: Science Binder with 5 divider tabs to be kept

Be On Time Please note there is a strict tardy policy for

students at KMS Students should not be on campus before 8:00

a.m. Make every effort to get your child to school on time 1st tardy: Warning 2nd tardy: Parent Notification 3rd tardy: In school Detention Be prepared for continued detentions and conduct

referrals in the event of continued tardiness State law requires that ALL students attend

school

Dress Code RemindersIn accordance with District Policy:No spaghetti straps. Students may wear straps approximately 2 inches in width.No midriff or stomachs showing.No ‘short shorts’ or very short mini-skirts.No underwear showing.No gang or obscene clothing, designs or colors.No weapons or illegal substances displayed on clothing.No hats in the school building but may be worn outside.Determination of whether or not a student is in violation of the dress code is made by an administrator.

Please Note: If a student is sent for a dress code check, they are missing valuable class instruction time.

Hall Procedures Doors are open during passing periods.

Students may enter classes upon permission, when the teacher is present in the room.

Students have 3 minutes for passing period to use restrooms, get drinks and get to class on time.

Students are expected to be in their seats with supplies ready when the bell rings.

Students must sign out when leaving the classroom.

Students may not leave the classroom during the first & last 10 minutes of the period.

In- Class Procedures In order to achieve success, hard work and

critical thinking are necessary. Students must remain on task in the classroom.

Off-task and disruptive students will be refocused to another classroom. If the behavior continues, a student will be sent directly to ISI. (In School Intervention room).

Student success depends on completion of all work prior to assessment. It is important to be in class EVERYDAY, mentally & physically.

Grading Policy

6th Grade ClassesHomework/Class work 20%Tests/Quizzes/Projects 80%

Grades at or above an 89.5 are rounded to an “A”

HomeworkYour child can expect 30-45

minutes of homework every day.Serves as practice for skills

learned in class Should be completed by student

- It is okay to help, but working through tough problems is an important skill to be learned

Late Work

Students will be expected to complete all class and homework on time.

In the event that the work is late, the student will not receive full credit, but the student is still expected to complete the work.

Work is assigned in order to give the student practice of a concept.

Attendance and Assignments

All homework must be made up when absent Students have equal days as days absent to

make up work It is the student’s responsibility to determine

missed assignments and copy missed notes upon return to class

All assignments are on the board for the week, and will be recorded each in their Agenda

Students should keep their agendas current E-mail the teachers in advance if your

student is going to be absent in order for us to provide work.

Snacks Students will be allowed to bring in a healthy

snack to eat 5th period Water Fruit/vegetables Crackers/granola bars String cheese No C’s (candy, cookies, cakes, chips) No snack that requires utensils to eat

Tax Credit Donations can be up to $400 for couples or $200

for an individual.

Tax credit donations can be made by giving a check directly to the school with the group/activity specified KMS, 6th grade

Checks or a copy of your on-line receipt should be given to your 5th period teacher.
