CME Mission StatementThis course is designed for practicing orthopedic surgeons, orthopedic residents and fellows, and medical students who plan to specialize in the practice of orthopedic surgery. The need for this program arose from the responses from previous course evaluations.
Educational ObjectivesUpon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
• Discusscurrentresearchandoutcomesdatawhichsupportscontemporaryscientifictreatmentfor concussions and traumatic brain injuries.
• List state regulations which impact interscholastic athletics with respect to concussiondiagnoses.
• Describetheapplicationofbiologicsandstemcellsinorthopedicmedicine.
• Explainemergingusesforcannabis.
• Expandandimprovetechniquesforperformingtotaljointreplacementandhiparthroscopy.
• Recognizethehighpointsandpitfallsofcontractualandotherarrangementsaffectinghospitalsystem relations, physician employment, and patient access to care.
• Identifytrendingmodesofacademicpracticeincludingclinicalscienceandgraduatemedicaland business education.
• Discuss pending state legislation which may help or hurt the delivery of medical care toPennsylvania residents.
