“We just launched our diffusion line. Unlike our signature line which

explores experimental designs, character dressing, contemporary style

and conceptual storyboard each season, the diffusion line allows me to

strike a fair balance between market demand and my design

aesthetics. The garments focus on effortlessly refined designs, at

affordable pricing pared back to mass appeal based on a sleek

laidback approach of infusing classic designs and simple everyday

basics with an urban edge. The main theme plays on the contrast

between natural fibre and urban materials designed for tropical

dressing. It is built upon both the fluidity of modal jersey fabric and

silhouette, while still maintaining the sharp forms and minimalist

aesthetic that our label is known for.” – Ashburn Eng.

“I have been working on a new collection ‘Anti-Antler’, which is a slight

mockery and ironic rhetoric on how deer are constantly hunted for their

antlers; be it for Chinese herbal medicine or decorative art pieces. It is

also a timely reminder that questions the progress of civilization as

antlers were used since ancient times to make tools and weapons. I

have also been busy with my fifth collection, titled Kaleidoscope

Clouds.“ -Elaine Tan.

RENZ HU “I am currently in the final semester of school (Art Design & Media),

working on final year project. The project uses the Chinese traditional

practice of face reading -mian xiang- as a vehicle for narrating an

individual's destiny, through evidences from their old photographs,

documents, belongings, etc. The project is actually an extension of my

interest in Chinese science, my previous project being on Chinese

medicine. There will be x8 life size prints of the portraits, accompanied

by an interactive web (working on it) that viewers can click on the

numbers and 'read' each individual's story. Our show/exhibition will be

on 27 April at Old School. Please come!” – Renz Hu.

“I did an iPhone design collaboration with iconemesis.co.uk. In

addition, my artwork: Grow with me (original artwork) and Anastasia

(print) will be exhibited at the Lj Gallerie in Paris from 15 March till 7

April.” - Sun Lee Siew Loo.

“I was recently involved in the OMFG -Outlandish Mini Figure Guys-

Kickstarter project. Basically it was an effort to bring together toy

designers and sculptors to create a line of toys reminiscent of the 80s

and 90s monocoloured toys like M.U.S.C.L.E and Monster In My

Pocket. There was an open call and through a voting process the top 5

designs made up the first series of the toy line. I designed and sculpted

“The Crawdad Kid -a crab-like little guy- and will be releasing my artist

proof pink editions online in a few weeks time. Keep an eye on my

blog! I was also involved in the 2011/2012 NOISE Apprenticeship

Program where I worked together with Pann Lim, the Creative Director

at Kinetic. My Sai Kang Warriors were exhibited at the Noise

Apprenticeship Show earlier this month. And then there is my “Rhino

and Friend” piece which was one of the works at Age of Uncertainty, a

group show at Chan Hampe Gallery back in June last year.” – Daniel

“Frankly I haven't been doing much besides Terroir Magazine (issue 2

has just been released). It has taken up so much of my time. But for

the brief period between graduation and prior to the release of Terroir

Magazine, I did try my hand at illustrating and creating some posters.

Just wanted to dabble in different things after all that monochromatic

stuff for my thesis year.” – Benjamin Koh.

ANDREW TAN AKA DREWSCAPE

“I’ve taken one year off my regular workload to focus on writing and

drawing comics, something I find great delight in. Comics is not just

about drawing pretty pictures. It's also about good storytelling. It's a

craft that is both fun and challenging to perfect. So far, I've been

creating only short comic stories and compiling them into small, self-

printed, hand-bound, hand-trimmed booklets. They are currently being

sold at Books Actually, Woods in the Books, The little Drom store, and

Kinokuniya. I love that I'm learning something new every time I create a

comic story. Perhaps when I've developed the stamina and skill to write

longer comics stories, I will then challenge myself to do a longer

graphic novel length comic.“ – Andrew Tan aka Drewscape.
