Phèvos and Athenà are two modern children, a brother and a sister. Yet they were inspired by a doll from ancient Greece, as their names suggest. The boy is named after Phèvos Apollo, the God of Light and Music, and the girl after Athenà, the Goddess of Wisdom. In this way, Phèvos and Athenà symbolise the unbreakable link between the modern Olympic Games and Greek history. .

A product of our country: A product of our country: “Feta” cheese“Feta” cheese

Feta is a classic and famous Greek curd cheese whose tradition dates back thousands of years and is still made by shepherds in the Greek mountains with unpasteurized milk. It was originally made with goat's or sheep's milk, but  today much is often made commercially with pasteurized cow's milk (the firmer cow's milk version is made for export). The curdled milk (curdled with rennet) is separated and allowed to drain in a special mold or a cloth bag. It is cut into large slices (feta means 'slice') that are salted and then packed in barrels filled with whey or brine.

Ioannina: Sights of interestIoannina: Sights of interest

Ioannina’s lake (Pamvotida) lies at the foot of mountain Mitsikeli and its surface area is about 20 square kilometers. There is a legend connected with this lake. The tragic story of the drowing of Lady Frossini with 17 other young girls by the notorious Ali Pasha (ottoman ruler till 1822). It is said that Ali Pasha was in love with Frossini, a beautiful greek woman of Ioannina. But she was having an affair with his eldest son, Muhtar and that

made Ali furious. He sent his son away and had Frossini drowhed in the lake...

The castle of Ioannina is located at the end of the city, on the small peninsula that juts into the lake Pamvotis.

The original formation of the castle dates back to the mid-byzantine period, whilst its present form is the work of Ali Pasha and was completed in 1815.

In 1430 the castle surrendered to the Turks.

At the beginning of the 19th century the castle underwent several restorations, which radically altered its form.

In the 14th km of national road of Ioannina-Athens, near Bizani, is found of the museum of wax effigies of sculptor Pavlo Vrelli. The wax effigies of the museum, in natural size and included in a real- like representation of the environment of their age, revive forms of the newer history. There are three thematic units in the Museum: the Prorevolutionary period (the Concealed School, the foundation of the Friendly Company, the martyrdom of Dionysiou Skylosofou etc.), events of 1821 (the Thieves, the death of Ali Pasha e.t.c.) and themes from the World War II (the women of Pindos e.t.c.).
