Traditional Indigenous Games is a unique and culturally appropriate way for youth to learn about aspects of Aboriginal culture whilst promoting physical activity to support a healthy lifestyle.

The word ‘Daya’ comes from the Yorta Yorta language, meaning ‘play’.

This initiative provides both Indigenous and non -Indigenous people an understanding of Indigenous culture including the games origin, history and purpose, culminating in a chance to play the game.

The benefits of traditional Indigenous games provides an inclusive, fun, challenging and active learning experience.

The experience focuses on encouraging and promoting the values of respect, pride, commu-nity, people, culture, sharing and discovery.

The games include activities such as kicking, catching, throwing, bowling, running and dodg-ing and can be played in a team environment, pairs and individuals.

Traditional Indigenous Games is brought to you by Indigenous ASHE students who are com-pleting their VCAL/Certificate IV in Community Services with GOTAFE.

Contact us to discuss your individual needs.
