Spring2016(?):Regentsencouragethedevelopmentofagrantprogramtodevelopandimplementacross-campus,threeyear,onlineonlydegree.Thisisslatedtobelaunchedin2018.Thisforcesthecampusestodealwithrevenue-sharingandinter-campusenrollments.

Fall2016/Spring2017:ReporttoAcademicAffairsCommitteerevealsthatCUhasspent$500,000onmarketingplusallthestafftimetodeveloptheportal.Thesitereceivedminimaltrafficandwas,byallreasonableaccounts,acompletefailure.Marketingeffortshavestopped.

RESOLVED:Inordertomorefullymeettheneedsofcurrentandfuturestudents;increaseaccessandaffordabilityespeciallyforfirstgenerationcollegestudents,workingadults,andruralresidents;andensurethatColoradohasthetrainedworkforceitneeds;theUniversityofColoradoBoardofRegentsdirectstheadministrationtomeetthegoalslistedbelowsoCUcanembarkonaneweraforonlinelearning.

• ByFall2018,identifythetopfivebachelor’sdegreesandtopfivemaster’sdegreesneededfornear-termemploymentneedsinColoradoandtheRockyMountainRegion.DevelopthosedegreesandmakethemavailablecompletelyonlinebytheFallof2021.

• By2023,theUniversityofColoradowillhave6,000studentsasonlineonlylearners.

• By2024,haveaconcurrentenrollmentprogramforColoradohighschoolstudents,especiallystudentsindistrictswithlowcollegeattainmentratesandthoseinruralareaswithlimitedresources,wherestudentscanearnatleastonefullyearofCUcredit(30hours)bythetimetheygraduatehighschool.

• MakeCUOnlinetheUniversityofColoradoCenterofExcellenceforOnlineEducation.ThisresourcewillbesharedamongstallfourofCUcampuses.UsethememoofApril2014“CU’sOnlineEducationRecommendation”astheguideforhowthisshouldbestructured.CUOnlinewillsupportthedevelopmentofnewonlinedegrees,onlineclassdesign,massiveonlineopencourses,thedevelopmentanduseofopeneducationalresources,advising,dataanalytics,marketing,etc.acrossourfourcampuses.

• EnsurethatallfourofCU’scampusesareusingthesameonlinelearningplatformforefficiency,costs,andeaseofuseamongstudents.
