◦ Pass ALL classes. (Failing will cause the student to be ineligible to play-per UIL rules and regulations.)

◦ Will work to do their best in all classes.◦ Act as ladies in and out of class and act in a respectful manner

to all teachers.◦ Failing grades, low conduct marks, and referrals/d-halls will be

addressed with extra conditioning and extra tutorials.

Sportsmanship & Attitude ◦ Treat your teammates and coaches like you want them to

treat you- with respect, dignity, and tolerance. ◦ The team comes ahead of any person on the team. Do your

best to help your teammates play better. ◦ We expect you to display good sportsmanship at all times.

◦ Bring a positive attitude to every practice and game, regardless of whether the team is winning or losing games.

We expect players and parents to provide unconditional enthusiasm throughout the season.

◦ Do your best every time you walk on the court. Your teammates and coaches are counting on you.

Absences/TardiesWhen you play a team sport, you’re committed

to attend every practice and game. When you’re absent/tardy, you miss a chance to improve and help the team. Athletes will be considered tardy if they are late to practice. Absences/tardies will result in consequences subject to the coaches’ discretion. We understand that emergencies may arise, but everyone will be held to this

standard.

TransportationGCISD will provide transportation to and from all

athletic events. All players are expected to ride the bus to and from each game. It is important that we support each other as a program. Athletes will be able to work

on homework in the stands and must remain in the stands or designated area during all games except their

own.

If you need to leave a game with another player’s guardian, you must give your coach written permission

from your own guardian a day in advance.

Athlete/Parent ConcernsThe policies that have been provided are important for a successful program.

However, the key to a successful program comes from communication between the coaches and parents, the coaches and athletes, and the athletes and parents. We encourage parents to share in their child’s athletic experience and help make it a

positive and rewarding one. We do ask that any concerns or questions by an athlete or parent be brought to the attention of the appropriate coach in the following order:

1. Have the athlete talk to the coach. Then #2 2. Parent conference with the coach involved. THEN #3

3. Parent conference with the campus Athletic Coordinator. THEN #4 4. Parent conference with the Asst. Principal in charge of athletics. THEN #5

5. Parent conference with the Campus Principal. Those who choose not to follow the above procedure will be directed back by the

administration to the level skipped. We know that conflict may arise and that it often arises at a game/meet. Please refrain from meeting with a coach at the conclusion of a game/meet. We ask that you observe the 24 hour rule. This will allow for all parties to

reflect on the situation prior to meeting.

Game Day Meal Forms•Our Booster club does a wonderful job of finding the best deals for us!

•Once the teams have been made, we will send home Game Day Meal Forms. The meals will cost $5/meal and there will be a meal provided before every game. We will need parent volunteers to pick up meals and deliver them to the athletes on game days.

• All game day meals brought by parents need to be delivered to the front office. For safety reasons, students may not wait by gym doors.

Volunteers/Concession Stand Workers

We will need parents to sign up to help with Concession Stand throughout the entire year. The coaching staff will set up a “Sign-Up Genius” online, however, we will need a parent for each sport to help organize this fundraiser. We will need 2 concession spots per player to be filled by an adult throughout the season. We would not be able to have a Concession Stand if it weren’t for you, so thank you in advance for your help!

What if my daughter doesn’t make a volleyball team?

1.) They can be a part of our wonderful WOLVES program and have the chance to be moved up to a team,

2.) Or they can participate in off season where they will work on conditioning, agility, and fitness skills.

Sport Requirements

Athletics is a year long expectation. All student athletes are expected to participate in a sport or sports that are in season. Students enrolled in Athletics are expected to fulfill the program requirements and will not receive a schedule change. Basketball is a cut sport and not everyone will be able to participate in these.

If you do not fulfill the expectations of the program, the coaches may reserve the right to not let you join Athletics in 8th grade.
