Pearl Craig 12/12/16 CTE Internship 5th Reflection Essay Throughout the semester long course of the CTE Internship class I have learned a variety of new things that push me along the path to my post secondary education. I have learned professionalism, ethics, and interview etiquette. We learned how to properly conduct ourselves in the workplace in dress, eye contact, and communication. My internship site was at Banner Health Boswell, there I was placed as a volunteer on the nursing floors. On the nursing floors I was made aware of all the codes, like, code blue, code red, code grey, code pink, etc., which was very exciting to learn. I was also able to observe the different medical careers in the hospital which was very insightful in determining my career path. Personally, I want to be a pharmacist but it was very interesting to see the different careers available to me in the medical field. I also learned some aspects of patient care, although I was primarily stocking shelves for patient’s personal care and assisting the secretary in whatever errands she may need. I learned proper composure and how to greet visitors and other employees around the hospital. One time I even witnessed a code blue and was able to apply the routines I had learn to properly react to the situation. I also met a variety of new people that could be useful connections as I progress to my post secondary education. All in all the CTE internship class has been very useful to me in real life and post secondary readiness. I now know how to apply professionalism, ethics, and etiquette to the work place.
